3D printed turtle items

I have not posted here in about a year and a half because my interest in dealing with fandoms has waned to almost absolute zero...and interest in modern tmnt has waned as well....

but thought some of you who remembered the old projects might find this of interest. I am getting into the world of 3D printing....and these are the first two items I had printed up. ridiculously expensive, but well worth it for those of us who have no talent working with clay. modeled in cgi , these are as close as you will ever get to show accurate statues based on original series characters. I plan to do all four turtles once funds allow me to do so. and then expand to shredder, krang, bebop rocksteady and maybe a casey jones and mouser.

for leonardo, the prototype is rather blocky,and I forgot to flatten the feet, sohe does not stand under his own power. with the second prototype, he's much smoother and does stand on his feet. some things, like the mask tie did not survive both prints.

with the technodrome, the laser turrets did not survive. and standing at 6 inches tall, the left wheel gear is also missing from the print for some reason. but,itcame out beyond awesome so I cannot complain. Leonardo is a direct screen grab from 'Return of the Fly'. Raphael should arrive next week and is a direct screen grab pose from the opening intro.

no raph again so painting mini leo.....also have limited colors but darker blue for leo

Raphael has arrived and he came back awesome. sadly an inch taller than leo but ohwell. For whatever reason the mask tie does not survive the print. Maybe I need to make it thicker.

So...when you get them, do you do added sculpting or do they look exactly like they do in the pictures (aside from the paint)?

almost don painting rap. Mini Donatello ordered with Mini Mike coming next. hopefully they come out the same size as leo.

mini don has arrived. sadly he's smaller than leo. sigh. I really wish shapeways would have a set scale to do these things in. a button you could push so they always come in at 5 inches or 10 inches....etc. as it is now it's a guessing game. sometimes they come back smaller, sometimes bigger than what the number says.
