Yes, China is popular regarding technology but you have to realize that they are paid cents on a dollar hourly. Plus, the workers are toddlers. Second, the birthplace of ninja came from China as well. They were called the forest demons aka "lin kuei". The Japanese stole the stealth warrior style and renamed it ninja. The Japanese only believed in shintoism but had to study sanskrit and adopt Buddhism in their practice. Both sanskrit and Buddhism came from the shaolin.

In my home country of Pakistan, I have heard of more people going to countries like China and Russia, whether it be for holidays or business. I imagine that its a similar story in much of the Global South.

How much of Japan speaks english? I know they're taught english in school there, but I assume it's like how most of the U.S. has spanish classes in school and people tend to forget spanish when they graduate.
Is it easy to get by in Japan only knowing english? I assume most vendors won't like you asking things to them in english. |

I disagree with alot of things in Japan, but not it being difficult for English speakers. I feel Japan has done relatively well preserving its native language and unlike Western countries, its Ethnic makeup hasn't been significantly altered by immigration, so the nation is still "Japanese", so to speak.

45 percent of Japan has a working knowledge of English. This only exist in government facilities such as airports, police stations, etc. Going to clubs, theaters, restaurants or other outings; yo ass better know a "konnichi wa".

This is good. I find this topic about Japan very educational for me, because Japan has always been my dream vacation and I've been reading up on the country since March of last year. In fact, I read about 70 pages of a book on their history and culture and I'm going to continue that book once I get off the Internet.
It's strange; before last March, you couldn't get me to pick up a book to read, but now I can't go a single day without reading either about Japan, or technology. |

Did you ever look into the super cheap traditional buildings when you where there? You hear about like $10k houses that still look good but need a lot of work (not to mention the taxes on them) in you tube videos.

Yes. All of the cheap housing are located in the country side. I have also found some houses that were totally free but needed to be renovated and up to code in a matter of years in order to keep it. These free houses were five to ten minutes from a train station and had natural hot springs in the area. I can't wait to go back so I can get my Ghost of Tsushima on. lol If you played the game, you know what I'm talking about.
