I just read it myself. The fact he was still active too! I don't believe a cause was given. Sure, by his age it's not surprising, but I suspected a particular health issue would have been known ahead of his Earthly departure.

I remember him from Star Wars as the voice of Darth Vader; Thulsa Doom in Conan The Barbarian; and a victim of local racism in the Hallmark TV movie Summer's End. As sad as it is, it's no surprise considering he was 93, which is a long full life.

Very sad and surprising. I knew he had to be up there in years since he was voicing Vader back in the original trilogy, but wow 93.
Dude lived on into borrowed time, probably cause someone up there still wanted to hear in in more films/shows/cartoons a while longer.

It's almost guaranteed he signed some thing that says Disney can AI his Vader voice forever, as long as they pay his estate a little fee whenever they do.

One of the most recognizable faces and voices in the Hollywood world for half a century, and he kept at it to the end. The world is going to feel a good deal different now. Unimaginable number of tributes from fans and celebrities alike are going to be pouring in for this one.
Rest well in heaven, James Earl Jones. |

This hits harder now. Darth Vader, Mufasa from Lion King, the King of Zamunda from Coming 2 America, so many memorable roles. He just had a open funeral in Coming 2 America 2. |

I was just showing my ten-year-old a video of James Earl Jones this morning, trying to make him understand how it took a number of people to pull off Darth Vader. Sad news indeed.

This is really sad. Rest in peace Mr. Jones.
I really hope that Mufasa prequel doesn't have some pointless flashforward, the idea of that being his final film seems wrong. |

This one really hurts. The man was a true legend and one of the greatest actors who ever lived. Here he is in my all-time favorite movie The Sandlot.

Yes he did. I believe they used it in that way to voice Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ a couple years ago. He signed over the rights to recreate his voice to Lucasfilm so his Darth Vader voice will live on forever if they are so inclined. He was great in a lot of things but the biggest for me are Mufasa, his appearance on Frasier, and especially Darth Vader. He was a great actor, "the voice" of so many, and a great person. A great life but still very sad news.
