Those pics don't show enough to judge the figure just yet but my first impression isn't overly positive. I agree, the poses do not look very neutral/natural, and he's not as big as I expected. He also seems to have the same dark wash that Rocksteady has, which I like, but it sets him apart from a lot of the other figures.

And I still don't like the purple belt.

Scroll down to TheCollector1999’s post to see Slash with the alternate head: http://thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic...048&start=4995

This is the thing I don't understand, the vintage Slash came out with two belt variants so why don't Super7 simply include the second belt with the figure as an accessory.

Given how many people said Baxter couldn't stand because they didn't know how to pose his legs, I'm taking these initial photos with a grain of salt.

Baxter stands really well. I have the vanilla and GIT versions.

There's a very specific manner in posing him. Pixel Dan provided a brief tutorial in his Super7 Baxter review video. I've had them standing in my shelves for well over a year and no signs of toppling over or instability.

Think that was his point. People didn't understand that Baxter isn't supposed to stand straight-legged and they complained about his balance issues. I guess he thinks this guy with Slash doesn't know how to correctly pose him.

Oh okay, thank you for the clarification.

I was initially confused by Baxter as well but felt I was doing something wrong. Fortunately, I stumbled upon that Pixel Dan video.

I definitely agree with you on the belt, but I can live with it. The thing that REALLY stands out to me is how bad the unpainted shoulder pads look. This is kind of what I was talking about when I mentioned how inconsistent the paint applications are.

Playing catch up. Man I love the look of the wave 5 figures but the fact the hips seem worse than ever is crazy at this point and reflects very poorly on Super 7 as they have had ample time to address this now.

Slash looks great (unpainted shoulder pads aside). We knew the waves would be close together but good to see they really are close!

Overall I think I'm in the same boat as a lot of people. When this line started I wanted it to be my main (or "ultimate") TMNT line. But the on going QC issues and increasing costs have me looking at my "want list" and looking for where I would be happy drawing the line. When the line started I wanted to get all my childhood favorites and to see the line expand to do new characters in vintage style. Now I just want to get a few core remaining vintage characters and I think I'll be happy to call things complete.

lol you guys are all super critical with toys (I just unbox them and put them on my shelves as modern representation mini-statuettes). If the same standards applied retroactively, no one would own vintage. I suppose the real issue is the price tag. If they were $29 figures no one would complain ("I got my monies worth"). The issue here is if these toys are worth the $49+. I personally don't know. I'm not a huge fan of accessories so having barebones figures for $25-39 a piece would more than suffice for me, but it's likely to trigger riots among other types of collectors.

As I look through the facebook, groups, it seems that Slash is praised for its color scheme, the deep teal hues with the wash of Rocksteady and while he appears to be top and back heavy, he also maintains balance. Some have preferred the alternate head sculpt.

On a side note, I almost feel weird praising Super7s (and BST AXN to a lesser extent), as I am some sort of delusional misfit who is a corporate tool or something. Strangely enough, I prefer NECA over both brands but for different reasons. Having said this, hip instability is a pet peeve of mine. I had to purchase a separate kaiser stand for Grune, which should not have been the case.

Well you're answering your own question there. Why are we all so critical of these figures? Because they're fifty-five freaking dollars. $55. Paid up front, a year in advance, based on a digital render and a prayer. I do believe every figure in the line has been cool in one way or another but calling them $55 figures or "ultimates" is almost always a stretch.

Meanwhile NECA is over here putting out their own Slash for $32. Their figures can be a bit fragile and sometimes their QC leaves a little to be desired, but they have been extremely consistent with the quality of the figures for the past 4 years. If you were to buy a NECA figure based off a digital render you could be certain of exactly what you're going to get. That has not been the case for Super7 in the slightest, unless what you're certain of is that it's going to be a hodgepodge of great and terrible decisions.

Oh weird, the back half of Slash's belt *is* black, and the front half is magenta.

dead on. i really hope someone from super7 is reading this. i want this line to succeed so badly, but i can't help but feel like the opportunity is being squandered.

i also feel like any time "customer feedback" comes up in interviews with anyone working on this line, they brush it off as complaints from a fickle bunch of negative nancies. that mentality needs to change, or the future of this line is in serious trouble. i can't tell you how many people i've seen across several forums saying things along the lines of "enough is enough, i'm done"

You're right. What in all the heck? For every one thing Super7 gets right they completely go off the rails in some stupid direction for another. Who thought "you know what, let's do a two-toned belt!"? Forget the fact that it's not even accurate to the variant anymore, it just looks dumb.

Super7 is just trolling at this point!

He can also wag his tail when excited due to the new ball-joint.

Just got to open my Slash tonight.

This figure may be the best ultimates yet. Every joint worked out of the box, swapping heads and hands was a breeze. Everything we saw with Wave 5’s reviews isn’t present here.

Accessories look great and the weapons rack is MASSIVE.

There is a great wash on the figure and some subtle paintwork on the shell.

My only minor gripes are the shoulder pads and the weird belt construction.

Also got the mousers - they’re fun, but the sais have “battle damage” on them so they aren’t clean replacements. The wash on the damaged mousers looks great, but there’s nothing exciting here. Especially at $55.

Just give me Wingnut and Screwloose and a Dreadmon and Jagwar in a similar style to Guerilla Gorilla and I’m done. That’s my “Playmates” Mutanimals dream done.
