I just picked up a relatively cheap UV flashlight for my glowing TMNT collection. Does anyone know if I need to get protective goggles too? I don't plan on looking directly at the flashlight or anything.

As long as you do not look into the UV light source or point it at yourself or other living beings you should be good. Eyes and skin will say thank you a lot.

I too use a (25 watts) UV lamp in an e27 socket to "charge up" my GitD figures - but only for the purpose of taking photos of them. Which means that the bulb is always pointed towards the figures, away from me, and is only on for the time of taking photos, never longer then necessary.

I appreciate the info. Yesterday, I tried UV glowing the figures and they were quite bright! But, today, their baseline glow is non-existent, even less than what they were before, which is odd. I still can't figure out why glow figures from the 80's were far more intense than the ones from now and a lot cheaper.

If only the figures could retain or absorb the energy for long-term.

There could be multiple reasons for that. For one if you are literally using a flashlight I recommend getting a real lamp for that purpose. Over here, in europe, we call those lamps "blacklight" because this is the term for lamps/bulbs that are meant for such purposes.

For another you can try to put the figures out into sunlight for a while. I do not know how much of this is actually true but ever since my childhood up to even these days researching it on the internet, people say those "glow in the dark" materials appreciate a good "sunlight charge". I can say for myself that, when taking photos of GitD figures, I usually put them under the blacklight bulb for at least 10-15 minutes to "charge up", depending on how weak/intense their glow is and how quickly it fades off.

And yeah, another reason could also be the material itself. How much GitD "pigments" are contained in the figure's plastic material. I'm afraid we would need an expert regarding that to further determine if s7 used less qualitative GitD "plastic".

Different materials and different safety guidelines can be a factor. Just think back the GITD toys back then and the ones you have now. The plastic feels different.
Another easy example is the NECA GITD Muckman vs the SUper7 one. It's a lot cheaper. So it barely glows.

I don't know too much of the sciene myself but the wavelength plays a big factor. If you place the GITD figure under sun light in summer it almost feels like the figure is super charged.
For UV flashlights, it might not make a big difference to the human eye but it's a lower watt bulb. So it might not charge the toys super bright. I feel safer that way.

Well the four brothers GITD didn't take long to hit retail, lolol. Wouldn't be surprised if they're like $30 on Entertainment Earth in a few months.

THANK YOU.

This is the only release I missed.

Updated shipping schedule from Super7 in an email I just received:

TMNT
Party Wagon - In tooling review at factory, awaiting updates to paint decoration. Scheduled to leave the factory middle of August and ship to customers early-October 2023.
Wave 7 (Punker Don, Warrior Metalhead Michelangelo, Guerrilla Gorilla, Triceraton, Robotic Bebop) - 3D outputs approved. In tooling at the factory. Scheduled to leave the factory middle of September and ship to customers late-October 2023.
Wave 8 (Ghengis Frog, Robot Rocksteady, Space Cadet Raphael, Shredder) - In tooling at the factory. Scheduled to leave the factory end of June and ship to customers mid-August 2023.
Wave 9 (Scumbug, Slam Dunkin’ Don, Splinter, Wingnut & Screwloose, Zak, the Neutrino) - Reviewing engineered 3D outputs with the factory. Scheduled to leave the factory end of August and ship to customers early-October 2023.

It's looking like October is going to be packed with arrivals. Here's hoping they get delivered on time.

Quite the dry spell for Super7 TMNT.

Am I mis-remembering, or did the NECA van go up for preorder after the S7 one? And now it's going to be delivered first?

I think the Super7 Party Wagon had a pre-order window in the "Holiday" season of 2021. NECA's van was up for pre-order in April of last year.

Super7 Party Wagon went up for preorder November 16, 2021.

NECA Turtle Van went up April 12, 2022.

It's weird that Wave 8 is coming out before Wave 7, but given the size of the figures of Wave 7 ... makes sense. Still piss poor planning on Super7's part.

Also, that two-year timeframe for their Party Van is rough, but this is Super7 so what's new? That Thundercats vehicle that finally dropped seemed so cheap for what they were asking for price-wise.

The delay on wave 7 makes me wonder if it's another factory change after the Wave 5 debacle.

Regarding Wave 9 TMNT, I preordered (taking advantage of the S7 discounts) via PayPal and not by logging in.

However, when I log into my account, it has all my pending orders (e.g. ThunderCats-related, and GIT Slash). It doesn't show my Wave 9 TMNT. Is it normal for figures not to show on your account if you used a "guest" sign in or via PayPal?

I'd assume so, since it doesn't know what account to attribute that order to if you checked out as a guest.

I hope so. I've done that before with some other non-S7 toy lines but for some reason it would somehow be traced back to my account (perhaps, because of the confirmation email address).

So I decided to finally try out a Super7 figure after trading in a bunch of my late brother's figures to my local shop. Got a substantial amount in trade-in value so I ended up snagging the NECA Neutrino set and the Super7 Shredder.

It's okay, lol.

I actually always thought this design of the Shredder was fun, but does anyone else feel like it's just way more about the box presentation than the actual figure with Super7? In hand it's neat, but maybe it's just the Shredder I have as it's not as dynamic of a figure as the Turtles or some mutants.

I ended up getting this for "free" with the store asking retail price at $45ish so If I ever get more (I'd probably just pick up the four Turtles), it'd have to be at a significantly lower price or at that free trade value I've been getting. =/

Was hoping with how much I loved my Playmates figures, I'd fall in love with these too.

shredder is probably 2nd worst in the line. try a muckman, bebop, or baxter!

If you can get them for cheap, I recommend the following:

Ray Fillet, Bebop, Baxter, Slash, Muckman, in no particular order.
Shredder is probably one of their weaker figures (along with April).

It really depends on what you were attached to as a child. If you like Splinter, this Splinter is pretty faithful to the vintage and appropriately upscaled with nice touches like the mug of coffee. If you like variants, Sewer Surfing Mike is excellent and so is Samurai Leo, if you can deal with the wobble and somewhat less sheen. The basic turtles and foot soldier v.2 are all faithful to the vintage (some joint issues on Don, possibly, but might vary on a case-by-case basis). Casey is pretty good but the waist has weird articulation.
