There are only nine toy-only characters in the entire Playmates line:

Sgt. Bananas
Pizzaface
Walkabout
Monty Moose
King Lionheart
Doctor El
Sandstorm
Hotspot
Halfcourt

And that's out of 400ish figures! Everyone else appeared in other media.

A handful of them even appeared in pin-ups with the old newspaper strip.

I would love to get a Bebop sized Chote/Shoate figure in this line.

Wait, Scratch isn’t toy exclusive?

Scratch (and Scale Tail) appeared in Radical Rescue on the Game Boy.

I kind of low-key want the Super7 line to be healthy enough to reach some of the other coveted figures (e.g., Sandstorm, Hot Spot, Shogun Shoate).
This is me all the way. The Super7 are more fun to mess with anyway.

I'm all for a Shoate and Hothead before this line dies.

Is there a mark-up on the reaction figures if you buy them from Target rather than Super7’s direct website? If there isn’t a mark-up, how does Target profit from the deal? Curious about the economics since it looks like Best Buy is now getting Ultimates.

I can and can't believe how much of a delay there has been between release times for their TMNT waves as Super7 is having a pretty ****** year when it comes to feedback for their figures. From Power Rangers, Andre, the lack of Moe's Apron, the most recent GI Joe wave, the Rat King drama ... I still feel like all I ever hear is negative things.

Strangely enough, their SilverHawks figures came out pretty well when everyone was expecting the worst.

Normally around the release of the next wave (which is currently due around August I think)

I hope it doesn't become "interpretations" going forward, because if so, I'm out! I just want them to give me a proper Traag and Rat King and I would be happy.

That’s crazy he would actually say that they aren’t upscales of the original figures when that’s how they’ve been marketed since day one and that’s exactly what they are !

If he really wants to claim they're re-imaginings or re-interpretations or whatever, then that's fine, but it smells disingenuous with how freakin' close a lot of the figures are to the originals. I loved having re-imagined/re-interpreted alternate heads for the four brothers, but they still had 100% Playmates accurate heads, while pretty much all the other characters ONLY had Playmates accurate heads and nothing in the way of alt heads.

This is my not so subtle way of making it known I'd like Super7 to release alt-heads for all those other figures...

^ Brian Flynn dodging having to admit what's really going on with the TMNT line.

Yeah, it's total crap what he's trying to pull. It's better to tangle the carrot with halfway-there confirmations of changes like "interpretations" when originally they were up front and center that these just "scaled up" versions of the Playmates figures. The whole no weapon rack, numerous delays, and Rat King fiasco scream something isn't in line with what the line originally was.

Again, the line isn't aligned with their original mission statement anymore and they know admitting that will cause people to jump ship.

To be fair to him it’s not like he can come out and say “Playmates screwed us” because I have to imagine that would have some legal ramifications if he did.

A lot has changed since the line started, Playmates is putting out a lot more vintage re-releases (likely inspired by MOTU Origins and wondering if they could do the same with less effort) and we know from how they screwed NECA for years that they don’t like competition. Brian essentially confirmed Playmates spat the dummy out when he said there are sensitivities there. He also didn’t say they have always been reimaginings, he said that’s where they need to be these days and that’s why the weapons racks and stuff went away, again confirming things did change behind the scenes.

Maybe, legally, they could still do it with Nick/Paramount’s permission, but since we’re now in a movie year and Playmates is going from barely doing anything to being the main toy maker again Paramount likely want to keep them happy so we’re seeing Super 7 have to jump through more hoops than they did at the start when Playmates was essentially doing nothing with the license.

If playmates screwed them, then maybe they just need to drop the license. I mean, look at their Reacton now, instead of getting new characters (based on the toy), we are getting cartoon repaints. If the next Rat King doesn't look like he should, then it's only going to cause more backlash.
