Interesting thought. I’ll turn 40 in December. And I’ve been backing off, selling things off, streamlining my collection quite a bit. I think it’s still “impressive” by most people’s standards, but is entirely backed off.

What I have been focusing on though are higher end things- like these Super7 figures. No way I would have payed upwards of 50 dollars as a younger man, nor could I. So, my point is, I don’t see myself abandoning collecting. Just refining it a bit. The older I am, the more I earn, the better stuff I can afford.

I think the best thing to do is just sell off your collection to other collectors our age before all of us grow out of it. 'cos millennials definitely won't get into TMNT, not with bay turtles and RISE around. Hope the upcoming TMNT reboot movie will turn out good but the point is, nobody watches TV anymore or cartoons in the morning. Kids these days play with iPad and such, so i don't think they'd appreciate ninja turtles.

And then there's another thing about dying early.
Not knowing the value, whoever inherits your collection will probably get rid of your scratch for a dollar.

I always figured I’d collect the stuff I want forever, then it’ll go to my kids when I peel off.

They can continue it, or cash in.

Millennials are people born from the early 80's to the mid 90's. So pretty much everyone on this forum. Millennials are definitely into TMNT. As far as being to old to collect, that's up to you to determine. You could quit right now. It doesn't really matter what happens to your collection when your dead, it's not like your going to have any control over it once your pushing up daisies. You could will it to your kids or someone, but what they do with it is irrelevant because your dead. Just enjoy what your doing with TMNT and if your done with it, your done with it. It doesn't matter if you have a bigger collection than other forum users or Youtubers, or you have figures that very few people own. Have fun with it and if it's not doing anything for you anymore, just quit collecting.

I never really thought about growing out of it. I favour quality over quantity now I’m older and I’m definitely focusing on less licenses (pretty much just Star Wars and TMNT now with some DC thrown in) but I don’t see myself not collecting just because I hit a certain age.

Maybe one day I’ll decide I don’t need it anymore and sell it, or my family will decide what to do with it once I’m gone (hopefully not for a long time!) but for today I’m happy with what I collect.

And speaking of collecting. Just put in a late pre-order for Metalhead and finally ordered 2 Foot Soldiers from the upcoming re-release. Decided to go a bit deeper into this line than I first planned.

waste of time. That Josh guy is not allowed to reveal anything.

Wave 3 (at least the one character) of Super7's shipment is still stuck on the docks. So the wait continues.

The minor interesting thing said was that future re-releases may have unannounced updates such as articulation fixes, Leo’s belt paint job be more inline with the other turtles and Raph could come with fists as examples. Nothing definite.

Anyone who thinks I'm going to stop collecting because I hit 50 or something had better just rethink right now. I'm not saying something in my life won't stop my collecting. But I don't plan on it. Not just this hobby but others too I have heard people say someone should quit they are too old. The way I figure it if you are still capable, and it still brings you joy, you should still do it. Age be damned. Do what you love.

Im not sure how you got the time, but mine are now in hand.

Order Status: Shipped

Order Placed On: 6/25/2020

It should also be noted that I bought 2 complete sets, both collector grade, and that I spent $7650 in 2020 with them and about 99% of my orders are TMNT related. (mostly preorders) No idea if that has any effect.

Ha! Metalhead's weapon rack looks a lot like Kirby's portal from the 2k3 series.
