With color-changing Ultimates Zartan recently shown in the G.I. Joe line, what do we imagine is the likelihood they revisit Ray somewhere down the line?

I was thinking the same thing when they revealed Hook Snow Mountain Ice Lion-O...I certainly hope so, the Ray figure was a slam dunk according to 99% of S7 TMNT collectors, aside from the mismatched sleeves, which would undoubtedly be redone to accommodate the color changing feature.

I asked Bryan directly about this at NYCC and he said that at first they were thinking of just releasing an exclusive variant Ray just in the alt color way. But since that was right when the hook mountain Lion-O was shown, I said that the fans really want a color change version of Ray like that thundercats figure and he agreed that he knows and that they are still thinking about their plans for how to do a variant if they do indeed do one. This was back in October, so maybe by now they already have it in the works behind the scenes.

I really like the overall look - it's a great take on the classic Mirage look with a hint of 2k3 and IDW. The third masked head looks great too.

Always great to hear some juicy stuff from behind-the-scenes. Glad to know that you've brought it to Bryan's attention and that he is aware of it. It's not like they don't have the tech or no how to use it.

Something weird here, though... the site added Karai, but nothing's changed with my order where I have Rat King. In fact, I'm able to add Rat King to my cart if I press on "Buy Again". So... I'm wondering exactly how existing Rat King orders are gonna be handled...

They said on instagram that you can email customer service and get a full refund or roll it over to Karai. Also I believe you can leave it alone and it will be filled with the eventual updated rat king, but you may want to ask customer service whatever your choice is.

This kind of stuff doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. How can you think Tattoo is offensive, but still pump out toys of mutant Turtles as ninjas and samurai’s? The whole toyline is a parody of different jobs and cultures. You’d think they’d be bothered by Eastman and Laird not being Japanese, but let’s face it TMNT is probably their biggest seller and they’d never want to lose all the money they’re making. They can skip Tattoo because he’s not as important as someone like the The Shredder despite both being influenced by Japanese culture. If the Shredder was an evil Sumo Wrestler you can bet he’d be made as he was and they would take the money. I guarantee if they made aTattoo that was like the original all the people who collect the line would buy him. the people who get mad on Twitter weren’t going to buy any TMNT Ultimates anyway.

I did look it up at some point because I was curious what could be the problem and I did read that Sumo wrestlers aren’t allowed to have tattoos and they can get kicked out of their group if they have them. They’re supposed to look presentable or respectable or something.

I think Tattoo's yellow skin is, specifically, what's offensive. Yellow and green skin for Asian characters had a tradition in racist media. I'm sure you can find examples of anime characters that are yellow. People are generally cautious about using those colors for Asian characters' skin tones, though, and most comic book Asian characters with yellow or green skin have, at a minimum, switched to a more natural flesh tone.

As far as Chopper goes, that's not Super7. Filmation thought Jitsu was racist in the 80s and refused to put the character in the He-Man cartoon. (They similarly refused some stuff like Stinkor, which they considered too vulgar/stupid.) Filmation created Chopper as a separate character to replace Jitsu.

Super7 was doing Filmation figures. Jitsu doesn't exist in Filmation. Chopper does.

never had the OG one as a kid, and I knew at some point I'd want this, happy to get it at a great price...as for super 7, I'm pretty much done, unless they introduce another character that just blows me away

The irony of selling a new and improved Scratch for $35, while a preowned vintage version is currently on eBay for $1700.

I kind of low-key want the Super7 line to be healthy enough to reach some of the other coveted figures (e.g., Sandstorm, Hot Spot, Shogun Shoate).

Shogun would be cool but it’s kind of always been weird to me that these characters that were never in any other media are so highly coveted. Like does anyone actually have strong feelings about these figures?
