The first trailer looked a little too uncanny valley but this is great. So much so that I will see this first before Aquaman.

What did they do to the eyes? they look smaller and oddly enough look more freaky. The people complaining weren't even going to watch the movie either. I hate these changes that will not help the box office since this movie is too out there for "casuals" anyway, it was easier to get their attention with the bigger eyes.

Did they tweak the eyes? They look the same to me.

You might be right, plenty people are saying the eyes are smaller and they seem smaller to me even after watching the first trailer again. But others are saying there's no difference. I was able to find this comparison image and at least here they're the same, but the different face structure and lighting might play a part in making the eyes not seem as big:

I love the eyes though, it's a cool stylize choice.

So they didn't change the eye size like it seemed but it is a major improvement.

Anyone read the manga?

Tracking to be a 200 million dollar flop:

Why is it PG-13, anyway? Another anime movie made into film that self-castrates itself from being taken seriously.

I saw it on Sunday. It's pretty violent for PG-13.

I am seeing it this morning, I can't wait.

I hope they are wrong and it makes a lot of money, I really want sequels.

I heard it was a hard PG-13.

Some people I have been watching, including a very otaku/weaboo Mother's Basement have been giving this movie a very hearty thumbs up and is definitely saying this is one of the better live action anime films. Which considering that only consists of Ruroni Kenshin and Death Note, it isn't really a high bar.

Just saw it myself, and it was pretty solid, actually. Went in knowing nothing but the title of the manga, so no expectations, and was quite pleased. Good story, characters, and action. Some of the cg was a bit obvious, mostly with her face looking a bit too anime-ish, but I can overlook that. I give it an 8/10.

I have seen it twice and will be seeing it a third time this coming week.

I give it a 9.5/10 because I have weird taste in movies.

I'll probably have to say this, out of the non-slice of life/romance live action anime/manga films I have to say Alita is up there with Ruroni Kenshin and the japanese Death Note films.

Machine deaths don't count towards an R-rating.

I'm thinking about going on Saturday to see it. So far I've heard nothing but good things, even from the contrarians on 4chan. I'm hoping it does well at the box office, because this might pave the way for more cyberpunk/futuristic movies, but things aren't looking exactly bright. It'll probably break even at most, and maybe get a lower budget, shittier sequel like Pacific Rim did.

Right, but there was some damn clever workarounds. They do tell us those are human brains in the heads... but we still see heads getting sliced in half and such. Blue blood instead of red blood, but still. And when the human people get wounded and get bloody, they're wearing black clothes and it's usually at night so all you can see is like a big "wet spot." It's a movie that can uniquely get around the problem, and I like that Rodriguez claimed his "one F bomb" that a PG-13 movie is allotted.

Dammit, this is what TMNT could be.

Definitely PG-13 stretched to its absolute limit. Most PG-13 actioners don't even try. I suspect Cameron may have a tiny bit of pull at the MPAA, still.

Yeah, this movie is a hard PG-13, they got away with a lot, I especially like one of the best uses for an F-Bomb I have seen in a long while.
