How do you feel about Null being gender swapped in IDW?
In a era of gender swapping in media, I'm surprised there wasn't much or any reaction toward Null being changed into a woman in IDW. Here is Null's original debut in Archie series as a man or devil:
Null never appeared in any other TMNT incarnation till IDW since, so that was the only version of him. IDW made Null a woman, or female alien/devil: How do you feel about this all these years later? |

Well, I have a hunch, but if it was done with the same kind of idea in mind as the original Null, with who that Null was really supposed to be... then it actually makes perfect sense.

I didn't care. IDW did a lot of things different.
I'm way more annoyed with the Turtles going to furry conventions. |

She reminds me of Hillary Clinton.
Or was that the intention….?

Well, you're sort of on the right track. That's assuming I'm right and they're doing what Archie did with the "secret identity" of Null.

Null and Jagwar are such obscure characters that it really is hard to think “no, it should only be like this!” Kind of like Moon boy/Moon girl. Just not really worth thinking about.

I don't think that's true. Null and Jagwar were huge parts of the Archie comic, which at the time was selling upwards of 150,000 copies a month, numbers unthinkable in comics today or even fifteen years ago. Like, in theory, there have been way more eyeballs on Null and Jagwar over in the Archies than any character in the Mirage or IDW books combined.

They made Jagwar a female too?
Also it woulda been funny if Madame Null was a perv towards men the way Null was. Maybe she'd have some brainwashed dude to deal with her nightly duties similar to what Null did to Candy.

If my hunch is correct, it'd be more like the IDW handler over at Nick/Viacom itself. There is one lady in particular over there who would fit the bill fairly high up the totem pole in publishing. The one that would be saying "No" to stuff, or sending back sticky notes.
Just speculation, of course. At IDW it could have just as easily been "Let's just switch up Null and make him female because why not?" and that's as deep as it went.

I was thinking Paula K. Allen at the time, who's no longer there anymore. But would have been when they introduced their female Null. But Kat VanDam easily fits that bill, too. Maybe better, even. Though I've actually spoken to Paula a couple times so that's who first popped into my head.
Again, could be completely out there. It's just something that went through my head when I saw there was a female Null at IDW suddenly. They probably had no clue who the Archie Null was supposed to be, though it's possible Kevin knew.

I'm ok with some of the gender swap, Like Jagwar for example, There aren't enough female felines.

Hard to see why anyone would care about this one. This isn't a frontline or iconic character, never had a toy, and her she's an embodiment of corporate personality. She's intentionally only displaying a partial spectrum of what constitutes a developed character. She's intentionally presenting only parts of herself relevant to big business so gender and sex really aren't important or displayed. Even fashion really doesn't give off personality vibes but only class communications. I only real got a sense of methods and goals but not personal preferences or motivations from the character. She has little emotional weight by design, limited recognition, and the switch has no role/effect in the story itself.
