So they are based on the Nick series and not the OT.

Oh wow, they look absolutely ridiculous. The turtle bodies do not mesh well with the typical bucket head style of the minimates esthetics.

I like the Minimates line. Compared to other action figure lines these days they are relatively more affordable to collect a set of. Plus they don't take up much shelf space when you want to display your favorite characters.
Although I'm slightly more excited for those Godzilla ones. They are way better looking than I would have expected a Godzilla Minimate to look. Maybe if they sell well enough we'll see the Mirage Turtles? |

That was my reaction as well. Perhaps the look will grow on me over time. But for now it reminds me of the cheap figures included with the vintage Italian building block sets.

The heads of the turtles are about the only thing that really bugs me. The sculpting on the bodies as well the fact that they have weapon holsters, also the sculpting on Shredder, are all awesome otherwise.
Over on the Minimates forum one of the guys that works at the company that makes Minimates is telling people that ask for sculpted heads for the turtles basically they have to keep some of the figures basic figure Minimate-like or something. |

Not a fan of Mini-mates at all, even these, but the Kraang-droid with translucent plastic is REALLY cool. Might grab that pack & sell off whoever else is in it.

Hi guys. Haven't posted here for a long while.
I was pretty excited when they announced TMNT minimates but I am some what disappointed by how the Turtles translate into minimate form. I thought I'd share some answers I got from Diamond Select Toys on Facebook. Basically I think the blocky heads have something to do with LEGO also having the Turtles license so the Minimates Turtles can't have new molded heads. From Facebook: 1)Will the Turtles minimates have painted torso under the shell pieces? A) do not believe there will be painted details under the shells, as they would be naked. 2)Are the designs final? Any chance we can improve the head and make them less flat? Similar to Battle Beast and have an add on head piece? The current head looks very weird with the added torso shell piece. A)We are not changing the heads, they will be Minimates heads. (And when someone saided "was expecting new head sculpts like the Lego version." DST's answer was "Not possible under our license, but this will make them more compatible with other Minimates parts and accessories.") 3) Does the license cover vehicle and playsets? A) There are no plans for either at this time. And when someone asked about classic comic style the answer was "Perhaps down the road" so definitely a possibility. I'm thinking a colored 4 pack and a b/w 4 pack |

Not seeing this posted, at least not in here where it probably should be But these are out! As blindbags at Kmarts (timed exclusive) Details here
http://news.toyark.com/2014/11/12/tm...se-soon-144325 I ran to my crappy Kmart and found 5 packs, grabbed them all without caring and this is what I got. Shame I couldnt luck out with all four Turtles but I got the one per case chase Mikey so who cares!!! Yeah they're billed as "keychains" but the dangles are removable so no big deal. They look so great. Spoiler:
Sadly unlike MegaBloks Halo men or KreO there are no codes stamped on the bags. And unlike Lego they're one giant chunk of plastic inside the bad so unless youre looking for Shredder or Footbots good luck feeling it out. |

I just posted a review video in the review thread. Personally I'm not a fan of these at all. Honestly I'm getting maxed out by all the TMNT collectibles (especially stylized stuff) being released this year.
I'm going to focus on The Loyal Subjects and Kidrobot lines which I have now completed. There's a chance I might go for the Yes Anime Super Armor figures...maybe. My shelves are getting WAY to crowded. GG. |

I agree with some dromers here that these still look strange to me.
Not a fan of the style of this life, but you can tell there is quality and detail on them, so if you dig the design I guess people can like them. IMO Kidrobot is the best line of mini turtles we've had. That and The Loyal Subject Splinter

Does this wave that has hit include the clear-plastic Kraang?

Yeah, the clear with silver paint one, the clear blue one with paint that was shown at NYCC is still a mystery as far as where it'll end up.
