Atleast it will be much better than another religious sequel, God's Not Dead 2 (a movie which I legitimately dislike).

I'm not a fan of religious films in general (barring a few great exceptions of course, and I especially don't like religous films set in modern day with the aim of making believers look persecuted) but I will probably check this film out of the curiosity and due to my interest in the subject matter.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

And then there will be trequel, where JC fights aliens.

And then we can move to crossover with Superman, RoboCop, Aliens, Predator, Terminator and Transformers. And Batman.

I mean, following the Bible, there technically is some ground in such a sequel... though immediately my mind goes to that aborted "Gladiator 2" script with the gladiator fighting in the afterlife or whatever.

"This time, it's personal!"

maybe it's an action movie where Jesus literally fights his way out of hell video game style with 300 visuals. That'd be interesting.

Although, that'd be abandoning the original theme of the first movie, Torture Porn Coated in Persecution Complex. You gotta have some of that, maybe have some early Christians be eaten by lions while Jesus fights the legions of Andras moving through them to get to the duke himself.

Oh man, that's a bad movie The first one was funny, though. Another bad one is Not Afraid where the movie makers exploit the Columbine Massacre, turning it into "teh evil Atheist kills pure Christians", pretty cringy. Or War Room, that one is hilariously terrible.

There is literally no movie Hollywood will not reboot or sequel or prequel. For the most part, creativity truly is dead.

Does it count more or less that the source material was also a reboot?

More like a sequel since it follows the same continuity. Or a retcon for some.

I was living in the bible belt and I was dating this Christian girl so all her church and I went to the premier of the original movie. I remember when the film finished everyone was crying, some only had a few tears but a large chunk of them were sobbing. I didn't know what to do as all the lights were on and I couldn't reveal my angsty agnostic self didn't know what to do since I was pretending to be Christian to date this girl so I went for a "just make a really sad face as you get out"

I've used retcon to describe the new testament many times.

I saw the first one in cinema, had a religious ex or it was with the activity club since I live in the Bible Belt, the club was basically hijacked by a religious group.

There where small children watching it. Most parents left with their children during the flogging scene, but not all.

Looking at the rest of the New Testament, that Apostle Paul guy really turned Jesus into a Mary Sue.

I was never really a big Paulist back in my practicing days, but even now that those're long since past me I still believe:

Canon Jesus > Fanon Jesus.

They decided to make a sequel about a decade and a half after the original?

I remember the movie being very controversial, with people saying it was pretty graphic in terms of violence, but I dunno if I believe that.

I can see that. Especially with the way many see christian films as a family friendly thing.

Hell, I want a dark and gritty Bibleman reboot.

I'm on board with this. Honestly, I don't see why it's even strange or funny to some that it's getting a sequel in the first place.

I'm not against it. I've just seen so many movies/plays/renditions on the Crucifixion/resurrection that to me this is jut "another one"
