Okay I read this yesterday and since it would be so easy to go on and on about the negative aspects of this issue let me try to find some positive things to say:

While Donnie and Bane's characterization is the absolute worst possible, I do like some of the characterization and dialogue from the other characters. The opening scene from a previous issue with Damian being a little sh!t and complaining about his controller being broken was great. Some of the other characters' dialogue is still a little stilted and weird (Leo's "I hate him" line, for one) but because for the most part the dialogue and characterization is decent it just makes the fact that Donnie and Bane's writing is so weak all the more frustrating. I feel like IDW's TMNT team could have taken the nuts and bolts of this story (Bane accidentally transported to New York, Donnie insecure in his physical capabilities) and crafted a much better story. With a few minor tweaks this story could have easily become part of IDW's canon but as it is, I'm glad it's not.

But boy, that art tho. So good

Here's my full summary and review of Batman/TMNT II #4 at TMNT Entity.

It's getting a little tough to find something nice to say about this miniseries that isn't just "the art is good" on constant repeat. All the characters seem to be really dumb in this comic and its manufacturing more tension than the actual evil scheme.

Haha... kinda reminds me of the character writing in The Last Jedi.

I found myself really curious to know what Batman's great escape plan would have been if Robin hadn't botched it (at the time, I figured the Dynamic Duo were actually on the same page with that little explosive plant). Does anyone actually believe that Tynion, Ferrier, et. al. actually had something in mind other than giving Batman a dialogue bubble to make him sound smart?
