Rick and Morty spin-off about the Vindicators
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv...im-1234955601/
I don't know why anyone would want to watch a show about an incompetent superhero team who all died when they couldn't solve simple riddles (or more accurately, because they're melodramatic weirdos and couldn't accept low stakes or make easy compromises), but it's something that is happening I guess. Maybe you could argue that the episode makes valid points about serialisation, continous raising of the stakes, celebrity facades, comclicated backstories, melodrama and the superhero genre in general but the Vindicators themselves aren't that interesting. Alright, it came about and... It's a bunch of shorts with a total runtime of about 20 minutes, so hardly a full spin-off. Still, it's technically a thing so...
Anyway, here's all of it on AS official Youtube channel, episodes 2 though 10 are in spoilers to save on space. Spoiler:
It's not long by any means, so you can just watch all of it right away but to get the general plot out of the way, it reveals that the mission they went on without Rick and Morty didn't really happen and they just kind of strung together a lie from unrelated events to make it seem as if they actually did something. What did do however were various things on a spectrum going from utterly pointless to straight up villainous. It also implies that nothing they have ever done can be seen as heroic and all of their accomplishments are either lies, delusions or actually something Rick did. Basically, the point of this seems to be retconning their deaths from being pointless to being deserved. |
