There's little point in casting a new Doctor if there's no series on a consistent basis, as is rumoured to be the case now. I see them using Tennant for one special a year, maybe mixing it up and reuniting him with Martha and Rose for an adventure each (as Billie Piper has returned to the role for Big Finish releases with Christopher Eccelston)

Or especially a fundamental creative change at the very top.

Also, that might be it? For a few years at least?

It's looking likely. UK television is in the midst of a huge funding crisis at the moment, several dramas can't be greenlit unless they have funding from a backer,

From what I'm gathering, Disney had buyer's remorse as soon as the first series underperformed both here and on their service, they gave notes and a few new writers were hired for series two to freshen it up. Disney have been ready to back out of it's deal for some time, but not announcing anything has stalled the BBC and Bad Wolf's efforts at the negotiating table.

Amazon is a likely candidate, but I don't know if that'd be a wise idea given they've just cancelled popular Australian soap drama Neighbours (another classic show saved from cancellation) after only two years on their service, such is the way of streaming. You could maybe get DW back for a year or a bit before it has to pack up and move again.

Disney also did not promote the show at all at some of the major U.S Doctor Who conventions held this month.

Series 2 will premiere April 12th

This was announced randomly on a half-time Six Nations Rugby game that only screened on i-player.

Official now that the series returns April 12th

Episodes will drop at 8 am in the UK instead of midnight. Of course, we're a little ahead of the States in time zones so there will be spoilers flooding social media by the time you boys wake up

Alan Cumming, who guest starred in series 11, is returning to voice an animated character

Alan Cumming was great as King James I in The Witchfinders, one of the highlights in the otherwise dull series 11.

The version of the trailer on the official BBC YT Channel has an intro from Ncuti and Verada on the 'TARDIS set'

It was green screened.

Because, according to unofficial reports, the set was struck some time ago.
