Are the Turtles nudists?

Besides their bandana's and belts, they generally walk around naked. That's why whenever we see the Turtles dressed up in human clothes, it always looks "weird" because we're used to them not wearing anything.

Discuss and debate.

Obviously the plastron is what's covering there privates, Which is why they can go around being naked.

Technically they have their dicks showing on the NES game cover. Their "tails" are supposed to be their penises or something.

But yeah they're naked. Obviously their privates don't get drawn/aren't shown. Just like you don't see the genitals of characters such as Bugs Bunny, Wily E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, Tom, Jerry, Sylvester, Droopy, Pink Panther, etc. despite all of them walking around naked most of the time.

Even Mona Lisa is completely naked and they didn't draw boobs or her privates.

Right I forgot about that. Venus was naked in TNM too wasn't she?

Anyway I think we've all realised a long time ago that fictional anthropomorphic animals rarely are 100% anatomically correct.

Yeah, Even if they had privates, The privates would be based on the animal they are, and not look like human privates.

Well, in ancient times, some warriors did fight in the nude.

Less clothing means less restrictions, I guess. And ninjas do need to be fast.

Yes, nudists. Nudism is very important to them.

Even nowadays in the few primitive societies that are left, their members go around mostly naked.

If you live in a society where going out in public naked is standard, it's just normal to you. And obviously the members of such societies don't spend their whole days staring at each other. And they have no needs for strip tease shows either lol

Well, it's a little gross to think they'd be sitting around their couch with -- basically -- poopy tails all the time.

They only have to wear clothing when the weather is cold.

The seats would have to accommodate for the tails sticking out, It be uncomfortable sitting on your tail.

The fact fictional anthropomorphic animals aren't 100% anatomically correct is what makes you forget they're naked. If CyberCubed hadn't made this thread I'd not have realised the Turtles are naked most of the time. After all, they don't have their privates hanging, so it's easy to overlook that.

Anyways, when I look at my cat it also doesn't cross my mind that she's naked. And I'm sure you guys don't think about it whenever you look at your pets either. What's strange is to see an animal wearing clothes.

They don't draw the privates because they wanna keep it PG, But the reality is, If these characters were real, There privates be sticking out.

They'd just have a tail with a hidden penis inside of it, wouldn't they?

Here's the thing, They are all fictional characters, But many of us who are fans like to think they are real, and most of the time when we think what these characters be like if they were real, They would have genitalia like any other person, But given they are half animals, There genitals will be based on the animal they are, Mutant animals with human genitalia would look weird on them.

They're not half human at all in a large number of the incarnations. Including the source material.

... God, this forum really makes me wish I was the kind of guy to always have a bottle of liqueur lying around...

... Anyway, no. The turtles would not qualify as nudist anymore than... Well, the actual turtle species they mutated from or really any other animal species that don't normally wear clothes. You know, like basically any animal on the planet aside from humans.

It's like the "they should act like human teenagers because they are the same age as human teenagers" thing or Ciro Nieli's claim that April and Casey should be teenagers because it makes more sense for them to hang out with other teenagers. The Turtles are not human beings, it's fine for them to deviate from expected human behavior, what is so hard to understand about this?

The audience (and writers) are human beings, and most human beings are incredibly myopic and lack the ability to perceive anything beyond their own perspective, and in turn, they project.

Also, from the writing angle I guess it's just easier to write them as "green people" instead of constantly trying to figure out "What would an actual turtle think/feel/do?" Because that would be pretty impossible to figure.

I mean, I get it. But the insistence some have that they merely BE "green people" rather defeats the entire purpose of them being mutants or turtles at all. We have people right here talking about "keeping it real" insofar as depictions of genitalia while in the same breath speaking of various ways they're essentially just like people (even though an animal mutated into a humanoid would probably NOT be "just like people"). The disconnect runs deep even on an individual level.
