S6 has been delayed but it's still in development. I haven't heard anything about Venom in a while. That might've been cancelled after ASM2 didn't meet their expectations.

After all this time of people begging to see Spiderman in the Marvel movie universe, you really think they're going to cop-out and not have THE Spiderman be the one who appears?

Your average joe has no clue who Miles Morales is. Peter Parker IS the one and only Spiderman. Its the same way some people think Dick Grayson was the only Robin and have no clue there were 4 Robin's running around.

Do you guys honestly think the people blowing up the Marvel superhero movie sh*t are people who know anything outside of the absolute basics? They will never use Morales in something this forward facing. Ever.

Snark aside, I think Parker working for the Bugle covering the Avengers is an easy way to work Spider-man into the story.

Having said that, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has clearly cribbed more than a couple of things from the Ultimates line, so it's possible that Morales could be a consideration. A strong consideration? Probably not, sadly.

Someone other than a white guy named Chris playing Parker is more likely than Morales getting screen time as Spidey.

I don't know if this comes as a shock to some of you, but most people don't read comic books! Comic book sales are nothing compared to movies and TV shows.

Most people have no clue who Miles Morales is. Of course they're going to use Peter Parker.

Its the same reason that proposed live-action Batman Beyond movie never took off the ground. Because they felt your casual fans would never accept someone who isn't Bruce Wayne as Batman, even though Batman Beyond takes place in the future.

Cubed it right, the average viewer has no clue who Miles Morales is. And why should they? They don't read the comics. Peter Parker IS the one and only Spider-Man to them and with good reason. There's no way Marvel/Sony will suddenly stop using Parker and start using Morales.

You're assuming a level of canon purity that the baseline viewing public doesn't care about. Again, no one cares that Hank Pym isn't going to be Ant-Man, and only racists were upset when Idris Elba and Sam Jackson got cast to be Heimdel and Fury.

Honestly? I can see no better way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to differentiate it's Spider-man from the previous movies, including the unfortunate reboot, than casting a non-white actor to play Spider-man.

Regardless though, I'm so glad this news broke when it did, because the fanboy frothing and gnashing over the Ghostbusters reboot was just dying down and I was running short of things to laugh at.

Heimdel and Fury aren't characters people would know about without some knowledge beforehand. If Miles was in a movie, trust me, there would be some anger among people who don't read comics.

I think it would just boil down to "not muh peter", which is entirely fine, because Peter is a fun character to watch on screen. To be honest, Miles works better in a comic. I'd take Peter over him any day in movies.
