It looks like Lebron James will be producing a reboot of Friday the 13th.

This is a direct response to the success of Halloween.

I don't think Lebron F***ing James has his thumb to the pulse of cinema like that. Coincidence.

Doesn't matter, anyway. The F13 rights thing is far from figured out or settled. This is about as newsworthy as "_______ actor wants to play Batman/Superman/James Bond/_______!"

I found the remakes of Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street both really good.. or at least as good as a remake of those films could've been, if they didn't do well at the box office it's because the concept itself is dated and a product of their time. I think the only way to make more movies is to cater to the niche fanbase that likes these type of films with low budget sequels, it's the only way to do the franchises justice and somewhat successful, they'll never be huge box office hits ever again.

I don’t even remember writing this

Anywho

I’m still on the fence about the screenplay lawsuit. It’s a very grey area for me. As a writer, I completely understand if something I’d written for pennies turned into a horror mega franchise that’s still going decades later. On the other hand, that’s the deal you signed. And it’s still more than most.

In any case, I’m very curious how the next instalment will turn out. Fingers crossed, cuz I miss seeing a good slasher in the cinema.

I hope the next rebooot adds some... pizzazz. The last reboot had a lot what I wanted in a new F13 but it was really boring and felt paint-by-the-numbers

For this reboot. They need to set it during the 80s. Because setting it on modern day would allow those people to easily get away from all this. There were no smartphones or GPS in the 80s.

Then you make it unrelatable to kids. And it doesn't need to be a reboot. Even the last "reboot" wasn't a reboot.
