I am still very bitter about the physical version coming out shortly after I bought the digital version. I even predicted that exact thing happening just a couple of posts up. I'm going to have to double dip.

Yeah I read that from you, quite the bummer.
I double dipped on Shredders Revenge back then.
Gonna buy this one for Xbox

I'll probably end up double-dipping as well and pick up the physical version, maybe around the holidays, if it ever goes on sale? I feel like for the TMNT games I've really loved on the Switch (Shredder's Revenge, Cowabunga Collection, Splintered Fate), I want to make sure I own the physical version just to be safe.

Very good news. I've been wanting to play this but hoped for a physical release first. I'm also glad the general consensus is that it's a decent game, unlike Mutant Madness (which I was also curious about).

I patiently waited for the PS5 port and now that it's out, I have officially jumped into Splintered Fate with both feet. This game is a whole bunch of fun. It's multiplayer Hades with the Ninja Turtles which is all I can ask for. It's also surprisingly well-written. Tom Waltz's dialogue doesn't come off as stilted when a talented voice cast is bringing it to life. I'm impressed by the presentation overall, although the music is unfortunately mostly forgettable.

I've gotten to a point where I can complete runs pretty easily and I've done all of the gauntlet challenges at least once, but I haven't gone too crazy with the shimmering portals just yet. I plan on going for the platinum trophy, which I've heard isn't too difficult. In my experience Raphael and Michelangelo are the best turtles to play as, which is a very welcome change of pace from how dirty those two have been done in past TMNT video games.

Splintered Fate and Shredder's Revenge are easily some of the best TMNT games ever made and Mutants Unleashed is a really solid effort for a Mutant Mayhem tie-in game. I can't believe we're here after so many years of slop during the Nick 2012 era.

Is this game actually good? How repetitive does it get?

It's a roguelike, so it's repetitive by nature. Imagine Shredder's Revenge, but it only takes about 45 minutes to beat. Only the game is so difficult it's basically impossible to beat the first time you play it. Only after running through it a bunch of times, upgrading your character and learning how best to play are you able to clear it. And once you clear the game the first time, it offers a bunch of new options to make the game harder to rack up even more upgrades as a reward. Roguelikes reward determination with victory. It really depends on whether that concept appeals to you or not.

And remember, the core gameplay loop is an isometric TMNT beat-em-up with a multiplayer option so even if the game seems boring/repetitive to play solo, it's a blast with friends.
