The Mega-Powers angle was what turned me from an "I watch wrestling" kinda kid into "I swear I'm going to do this one day" kid. It was so f*cking brilliant, was so intricately nuanced and perfectly executed, even the roles of Boss Man, Akeem and Slick felt integral to he plot (although it would've been better if Akeem was still One Man Gang, but eh). Everything from the Hogan/Savage feud in '86, the Hart Foundation/Honky Tonk Man ambush where Hogan saved Savage, the feud with the Twin Towers, Savage's jealousy, Beefcake slowly and subtly being elevated to Hogan's "replacement friend and partner" in place of Savage, and all the subtext along the way... I can't think of another angle where there was SO much going on and all of it felt so natural.
I still try and watch the whole thing once a year or so. Hogan/Savage at 'Mania V is my all-time favorite match; I know others were technically "better" but that was the best they ever had together, the angle built it perfectly, and it was flawlessly executed. They didn't try to do everything, but everything felt right and was done in the right place for it. It was also just the right length. To me, it's absolutely on par with Savage/Steamboat and other classics, just a different kind of match, not strictly a scientific classic. It's like a blueprint for "How To Book An Epic Feud."

I think this angle is the most interesting thing we've had in a while. As long as it keeps me watching, I'm all for it. Heck I had a killer headache on Monday, but I was still able to stay up and watch the show the whole way through, something I've never been able to do before. So, if an angle can do that to me, I say let it go on as long as it has to. It definitely has kept me on my toes.

I've always liked Orton as a heel, so he's perfect for this role. He's a good face, too, but he's better as a heel.

He's a really great wrestler so I don't agree with what you're saying at all.

He's like the opposite of Rey Mysterio and Ricky Steamboat. Their personalities kept them from being booked as anything but babyfaces. Randy Orton IMO should be in the "always playing heel" category. |

He's definitely come a long way. His promos are kind of like Nyquil, though. He's gotten pretty crisp in the ring, though, for sure. I was one of the guys who was very much against his first World Title reign and singles push, as he didn't seem ready at all, and I still feel that way a bit, but he's grown into his role in the last few years. Even though he wasn't really ready at first, working with the top guys for all those years since could only help someone get better, and he stepped up his game accordingly.
He's not the most exciting guy sometimes, but he's a good top heel and I think he should stick to that. Like Triple H, there's just something kind of unlikable about him; he's easy to boo, cheering him doesn't feel right. That's actually a compliment, like Ric Flair before he became a "beloved elder statesman" of pro wrestling; in his glory years, even though fans loved him deep down, in kayfabe anyone who trusted him was a fool, as he would always turn back to heel at the slightest provocation. He was a character that fans would love as a talented performer but absolutely hate as a character. The business needs more of that.

Just heard CWA landed the venue at the mall for an entire year, and will be doing an iPPV on October 26th!

That's awesome, Leo. I hope you're in that PPV. That would be awesome.
And I agree about Orton. Sure, there are some wrestlers who do good as both heel and face, and Randy is one of them. However, there are some who, though they're good at both, they are better as a certain type. Randy is best as a heel because he just has that persona that makes you hate him. Even when he was face and did a decent job of it, it definitely didn't feel right like when he knocked Daniel Bryan into the barricade that one time and helped him up. I was expecting him to give Daniel an RKO that time.

Barring some catastrophe, me and Kidd should be one of the featured matches for the iPPV. Looking forward to it.

That's awesome, Leo. Congrats on that. I just hope it'll turn out okay.
Pretty decent SmackDown last night. I just love this whole storyline so much. It definitely is keeping me watching and keeping me absorbed, something WWE hasn't done in a while.
