I really enjoyed it. A nice prelude to what’s coming up.

Yeah that was pretty nice... Does the dialogue imply the the Mutant Town bullshit is finally over by the time this takes place? It's kind of hard to tell, it feels like it's being kept deliberately vague. Jennika is obviously absent, so I'm guessing she got cured or was part of whatever else made it go away if that's the case.

Fvcking finally.... this issue was the BEST issue this series has had in well over two years. The little throwback with the bros all wearing red & being a ninja team again. But it still wasn't that great.
Issue 127 sucked tho... Can the Annual act as a jumping on point to a rebooted/reworked series where they keep wearing all red & no more Mutant Town furries bs happens? It won't but it'd be nice. |

I get the art is not everyone's taste but I loved that it actually felt hand-drawn and almost old-school. That and the kinetic energy it brought.
Seeing the original foursome back together was quite moving - I'd almost forgotten what that was like. And then the whole bandana color thing ... well, I was almost grieved to seem them return to the individual colors come the end. The emotional impact of the story was, I think, ultimately the most important aspect of the plot, simple as it was, for me. Harkening back to the glory days almost. This annual surprised me and I really appreciated that. |

In all honesty this should have been #106 in place of The Slithery arc. It focused on the 4 Turtles and their relationship. No residents of Mutant Town. I am glad that I picked it up.
Here is a review from CBR.
