Batman/TMNT Adventures #5 Preview & Discussion

Preview here.

Mikey in Bat-suit? LOL, it was already in a strange Russian book "TMNT & Batman" in 90s.

My favorite comic character is being annoyed by the Nick version of my favorite hero.

Joker as the penultimate foe and having Mad Hatter as the ultimate foe is an interesting choice.

Love the Batman:TAS goodness! So sad to see it end.

Love the Robin/ Batgirl banter. Cool to see Nike's appetite for pizza no matter the situation rubbing off on Robin. The fact Batman took a few minutes for a pizza break instead of chasing after the inmates still at large. We see a small bridge from season 3 to season 4 of Batman: TAS with Scarecrow redesigning his costume. It was a solid end here, not needing a 6th issue. Ah,well.

We still have one more issue to go, but weird this part ended mostly focusing on Mike/Robin than everyone as a whole. I can't wait to see them meet Tim.

Holy Halfshells Batman this is a great series! Probably the best writing & art of any Nick-based TMNT comics to date, and like others have said, a notch above the big boy crossover that preceded it. Psyched to see we're getting another issue—was that always the case or did it get added on (presumedly because this series is so )?

Am I missing some BTAS reference at the end there, or did...
Spoiler:
it look like Scarecrow was emulating the Rat King?

That epilogue page was epic. Never in my wildest dream did I expect this comic to try to tie-in to the animation style guide alterations between BTAS and "The New Batman Adventures."

Ahh, so it was a case of some creative retconning on character design?

Well the design he's working on at the end is what he looks like later on in "The New Batman Adventures". The comic is just giving an in-universe justification for it.

Plus Jeffrey Combs was one of the voice actors for that latter appearance.

And let's not forget Batgirl's slight against Dick's poor use of green in his costume. He drops it soon for his Nightwing ensemble. And his successor abandons it too.

Scarecrow's new costume was in the final season of B:TAS, where all the designs changed. Granted most of it has no in-universe explanation, it's not like Joker magically lost his lips in-universe in the last season.

Well, "Joker's Millions" did suggest the poor clown had fallen into hard times, financially speaking. So maybe he had to cut the lipstick line-item in his budget that year?

i did find it odd that they had Batman and the Turtles part ways being that there's only one issue left.

hopefully whatever brings them back together happens early enough into the issue without it all feeling too rushed?

i just really wish this mini was getting a hardcover.
TPBs tend to get banged up too easily! especially in shipping!!!

Well the next issue takes place after a timeskip where Dick is Nightwing and Tim Drake is Robin, so naturally they were going to say goodbye so they reunite a year or two later.

Seems like I read somewhere that issue #6 was a bonus extension from the originally plotted 5-issue crossover.

that makes sense.

i wouldn't even mind if the final issue were even a little more expensive than the other issues if it meant more story.

so far it remains at $3.99 with an unknown page count.

i'm actually more looking forward to a sequel to this Batman/Tmnt cross-over than the previous one.

Matthew Manning doesn't tease about getting to the action and excitement, he just JUMPS right into the good stuff!!!
