The reason that they keep making these is because everything they make sells out. It’s a pretty flawless business model. They’re not spending any extra money on retooling or anything.

"Die-hard" isn't a word I'd use. More like blind brand loyalists. People who *think* it makes you a die-hard fan to buy any crap with an old school logo on it.

Most of the people who buy up all of this atrocious bootleg-tier trash are the same ones who bemoan any iteration that isn't the '87 cartoon that they barely remember. Late-comer collectors who only picked up the hobby during quarantine out of nostalgia, with no real quality standards.

They will inevitably sell out for now, due to speculators/scalpers, if nothing else.
Hopefully they are a fraction harder to move than the quality stuff out there like Neca and Super7, therefor turning even scalpers off.

We know there are a sect of fans who will buy anything. But this anything is at least a bit more expensive.

Playmates has found a strategy that is very profitable for them, re-release old molds with new paint apps in a box set to maximize profits for a limited run. They dont need to invest much money and they sell out. More money is being made from this than say the entire Rise line so they'll continue to have these releases. Perhaps it's better just to have one topic for all these playmates releases instead of a new one every other month.
