Thank to the advent of the retcon, what is considered by Mirage to be "canon" changes all the time.

For a while, many of the issues published between TMNT (Vol. 1) #21 and #45 were considered canon until Laird said they weren't.

For a while, TMNT (Vol. 3) by Image was considered canon until Laird said they weren't.

An easy guide to go with can be found Here. It's color coded by Laird's canonicity approval rating, but all that stuff basically forms a semi-coherent chronology.

Many of the guest issues of Volume 1 can be viewed as alternate takes on the Turtles. They're fun reads but don't impact the story in every way.

The funny thing is almost all those stories features the Turtles still in Northampton, almost still trying to keep continuity that they don't return to NY fully till City at War.

Hey guys! I just bought the comic book Challenges in the hard back. I have a few questions though. The first being what's a good price to pay for one of these in mint to near mint condition? And my second question is the seller says it's still sealed. Does the book come sealed in a sleeve or something when they were released? I am assuming it has never been read. I paid $35.00 for it shipped...so I hope I got a good deal. Thanks for any help!

Mirage sells them for $10 brand new, I think I got mine or for a dollar or so, I'm really not sure anymore since my orders are large and quaint. This was this year, too. The only one I paid $10 bucks for was the softcover I ordered from Mirage a few years back, but since it came with Dooney's sig and a sketch I'm happy with that.

Yes, the hardback books (still) come sealed when new.

What's important is that you feel you got a good deal, regardless of what others paid. Heck, I just paid $11.59 total for Raphael and while I know someone out there paid a buck or two for one in similar shape, I feel I got a good deal.

I remember commenting on this in the Challenges thread. :/

Regaurding Image TMNT:

I just bought a lot of 8. 1-5, 7-8, 12

I know I can read 1-5 but are there any stand alone stories in the other issues or do I have to fill gaps before reading the rest?

You'll need to read them in order. There are no stand alone issues.

The Image series is one big story with a bunch of smaller story arcs that continue throughout the whole thing.

Its best to just read it in order.

Each arc is about 5 issues and leads directly into the next so it forms one larger, over-arcing story.

Just picked up TMNT a quarter century celebration at my local comic shop for $20. Is this a good deal? I saw it for about 50 on amazon.

Yeah, that's what Mirage is selling the soft covers they have in stock. If it's hard cover then you DEF got a good deal!

Unfortunately, it's a soft cover. I still really enjoyed it though. Half price books had a 25 cent comic day a few months ago and i found a lot of issues of volume 1 and got all of them. They were #16, 28-31, 34, 36-39, 42, 48-52 and 54 I also have the 2nd and 3rd FIRST graphic novels. I'm trying to amass all of volume 1 in one form or another. I really need to buy the 1st and 4th FIRST graphic novels. I'm trying to get all of volume 1 without resorting to ebay cause the hunt is fun.

Also, I picked up the storage shell Michaelangelo figure from a store at the mall. Is this part of the 25th reissues or an original figure? it doesn't have the 25th anniversary packaging or a dvd. I think this might be an original! Holy ****! There is no indicator of it being from any more recent of a year than 1991 and it has pics of about 30 other figures I have never seen re-released like panda-khan, scum bag, mutagen man, shredder with pants, baxter etc.

How many comics were included in the RPG books, all in all?

from here.

A total of 4:

Don't Judge A Book (TMNT & Other Strangeness)
Road Hogs (Road Hogs)
New York Ninja (TMNT Adventures!)
Terror by Transmat! (TMNT's Guide to the Galaxy)

All were reprinted in Shell Shock, save Road Hogs.

Alright, I've got a question for you Image afficionados.

Did the Vanguard villain Deathwatch ever appear again after he escaped into space in TMNT (Vol. 3) #14?

I know he appeared previously in Vanguard (Vol. 1) #2 and #6, but did his plot thread ever get revisited in any other Vanguard or Image comic made afterward?

Andrew said he never appeared again:

Frank and I were just talking about him on the phone not even a week ago... no, apparently he was never seen, heard from, or mentioned ever again after that. Which is too bad... he was a pretty striking villain with a pretty spooky origin.

Gary and Frank do have a Vanguard backup coming up... I suggested maybe he could be squeezed in there somehow, but I wouldn't count on it.
