Konami TMNT Vinyl OST Collection | Limited Run Games

Oh boy, this is gonna hurt some wallets.

All classic Konami TMNT games released on individual vinyl.

This could've easily been a giant box set, but alas. Limited Run Games doing distribution makes me nervous.

At least it's only one per month. That's a lot more manageable.

True! But man, that shipping is gonna add up over time ... and what I'm not really sure about is how they're going to justify those LP prices ($40 plus shipping for the green variant) for what is essentially 11 minutes of music.

The bootlegs out there did it right by at least combining some games together to max out the pressing, like TMNT 1 and TMNT 2 from NES.

Again, TMNT on vinyl and I'm usually there so I'm probably going to get all 9.

If one preorders them all, is one required to pay shipping each time since they have staggered windows?

I ain’t biting that bullet!

I know I’m probably gonna go all in on these too, haha. Unfortunately I doubt they’ll ship them all at once but that would be nice.

As someone else said, each album will contain a very small amount of music. I know it's not entirely about the music per se, but it seems like a tough sell to get people to pay a premium for 15 minutes worth of music.

Well, some good news on that front! Josh from Limited Run got back to me tonight on Twitter when I asked about the length of some of these OSTs and said they'll include extensions of re-records to better fill the length. They tried to get the DOS soundtrack for the first game on there too but it wasn't approved.

Anyone been grabbing these?

I got the first two games preordered on LP and I ended up getting the first Game Boy game on cassette. Figured all the hand held games I'll try to go a little bit cheaper and get them on tape lol

Nahhh, I try to stay away from LRG as much as possible. They put out some great stuff but they're about as predatory as it gets and are on the "super questionable" end of the business ethics scale.

I'm only getting the soundtracks for the NES games, and Tournament Fighters. But I may end up getting the cassette tapes for the rest, as that actually doesn't sound like a bad way of getting everything but still saving some money.

Wow, been a while huh? Looks like the first LP is getting ready to ship/has shipped for a lot of people! My TMNT green-variant NES LP is on its way!

I ended up getting every game except the Game Boy games on green-variant vinyl. I went with the first Game Boy game on tape just to have some kind of representation, should've probably picked up the other two but I wouldn't be surprised if they turn back up.

Well, all of the individual TMNT soundtrack pre-order windows are now complete, and... early analysis of the vinyl record for the first NES game is concerning:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOUQ5UrTdEQ

I pre-ordered the CDs for all the games except the 2nd and 3rd Game Boy titles, but now I'm definitely starting to have buyer's regret with this on top of LRG's inexcusable CD-R controversy over "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties."

I will say that my copy of the NES OST sounded great, and I was actually impressed with how it sounded. My only real nitpick with anything with them was how they shipped them in flimsy packaging.

It's looking like my TMNT Arcade (1989)/TMNT II NES double LP is getting here on Monday, so I'll report back how that one sounds.

LRG was such a great, novel and well executed concept across their first two years of releases. But as they expanded they just went down hill. Holding pre-order funds for over a year, shipping things late, off-spec or just shoddy, and then of course the CD-R thing.

It's a real shame that they went all-cash-grab and that the market supports it, because they began as something really special.

I have to say, the cassette tape looks cool and seems to sound nice enough for what it is:
