I notice Napoleon Bonafrog on one of the card back photos on the Super7 website.
That's a must have for me. Had the original as a kid, heavy nostalgia vibes! He hasn't been re-made since the original, so that's pretty cool!

Does the fact they are doing a "Mirage Inspired" Casey mean they could potentially do more Mirage Inspired characters? Turtles? Shredder? Foot? Whoever, prefer Super7 to NECA

Given the fact the original Playmates' turtles, Splinter and Shredder design was heavily influenced by the comics, it should be easily done. New painting and new belts, that's all is needed for a Mirage set.

You know I love the Super7 stuff because it's just charming fun. But I don't buy it unless we see it on crazy discount. My threshold for these falls at about 7 bucks a figure.
On another note, isn't it amazing how people have embraced this line for years and years now, but yet there were so many complaints from younger people about the Marvel Legends Retro line - which is actually superior in every way to the Super 7 line - scale, sculpt, etc. Crazy. |

I know this line doesn't get a ton of love and most on this forum like to act like it doesn't exist but I was able to pick up a loose Slash, Mutagen Man, Napoleon, and Chrome Dome last week and I gotta say, they're pretty neat. Granted, I paid $8 apiece for them so that helps a ton (these are not worth $20). But they're just fun little reimagined versions of some of my favorite vintage toys. Ironically, they do feel like Super7 forgot what they set out to do with the ReAction line (make Kenner Star Wars-esque 5 poa versions of a bunch of pop culture favorites). They're much more detailed than any of the earlier stuff and the slightly squat poses also don't really fit with the theme. Still, I really like them and have already started hunting for the last few that I "need" of what's been released (Triceraton, Ray, and Rocksteady). I hope they keep going with the line as there are still a ton of mutants that I'd love to see get the ReAction treatment.
One complaint though: it is almost impossible to get the figures to hold their weapons. The plastic is way too hard to bend the fingers to open their grips and all of the handles are too fat for the openings. It's pretty dumb (but also not surprising coming from Super7). |

As far as their TMNT offerings go, I only have Leo & Krang at the moment, but I do really like these. I just don't wanna pay full price, like you said. I think beyond that particular issue, the sculpts & style really are charming, & of course, the card art is spectacular. I'd love to pick up Mutagen Man, Slash & Ray at some point, & I wish I had gotten the SDCC glow in the dark set way back when, too.
I do hope the line continues in its original vein, but given their issues with Playmates, I think the "cartoon" ones are all we should expect moving forward. A shame, really, as I was SO excited for Muckman & Punker Don to innevitably show up (my two favs of all time). |
