For a long time I used to get $13-15 interest in my account, but lately its shot up to $16+. I attached a screenshot below. For some reason I now get $16 interest at the end of every month.

Is this good or bad? I did not major in economics!

That's it? I swear I was getting that with my old bank back in the day, but only with roughly the previously mentioned $10k in the savings.

(Not that I otherwise know what's good these days. Didn't major in it either and that kind of stuff is rather over my head and may as well be a foreign language, sad to say.)

You're doing great. Don't change anything you're doing.

So Cubed, what are some of your money-saving strategies? I'd love to take a page out of your playbook. Do you have any tricks or tips that you swear by?

He spends his time posting on the Technodrome forums where it's free instead of going out and spending money. Also, that 16 bucks a month in compound interest really adds up.

Either those two strategies or there is another, very powerful strategy. It's called "photoshop".

Either way, I can honestly say that Cybercubed has more money in his savings account than I do.

Well if you must know it's not because I have a high paying job or anything like that (my job pays decently, but nowhere as good as it should be for someone my age), and of course I did not get this money over night or anything. It comes from years and DECADES of saving money. Like dating back to 2008 (that was the year I graduated college), and saving money from then till now.

I don't own a car, so I don't have those expenses either. Also of course I have no kids and obviously I know most people my age have kids and a large family, and that of course eats away their salary. Obviously people who have 2+ kids and a dog or whatever spend most of their paycheck taking care of them. I do not have that.

Bro. It's borderline appalling that you would start a sentence with those words in a thread where you've not only offered your bank account balances literally to the entire internet, but also asked people in the title how much they have.

"Well... if you must know..."

Geeze man.

Cool. Sounds like I'm in the same boat, so perhaps I'm halfway there!

I’d be willing to bet you don’t date either? Or go out much at all?

You could do a lot worse than Scrooge McDuck, in any case.

Most of my money goes towards medical related stuff and my car (insurance, gas, car payment). Time I start saving, I have to end up paying for something out of pocket (some meds/vitamins I take aren't covered by insurance). It's annoying sometimes. I do have money put away in a financial firm, though that I can't touch until my 60s, but I need to do some more investing to build it up. It should be higher than one it currently is, but I also haven't been adding much to it either.

I wonder if I'll make it to $300,000 saved, but it'll probably take me into 2024 to even make it that far. And that's barring any unforseen financial crisis or me getting fired/quitting my current job. Who knows what might happen between now and next year. Probably not though, although who knows.

At least you can afford that full set of dental implants someday after all that soda. I hear that can cost as much as a car and insurance doesn't necessarily cover it, prob just the extractions to a point.

I had so many root canals and crowns but most of it was free.

I do have to pay roughly $300 for my current crowns but at least it's not $1,500! Also now that most of my teeth have either been replaced or fixed, I don't think I will have any issues going forward.
