A way to get candidates running who aren’t millionaires.

Nothing is stopping them from running. This just seems like a special brand of evil. Basically a bright blue state's naturally blue voters votes to tax itself -- tax everyone in the state -- to give everyone in the state money vouchers to give to candidates. How is that anything but a money laundering scheme for the left?

And you think anyone has a chance to win without millions to advertise in the media?

I think it's a stupid idea.

However there is nothing to stop citizens using their vouchers on conservative politicians. That's a conservative issue, why aren't their policies registering with the local electorate and what can they to do improve voter engagement.

Personally, I think campaign budgets need to be capped.

Over $3billion on both parties. Don't tell us there if no money left. How many cartons of eggs is that. I don't need DOGE to tell this is ****.

You know things aren't going particularly great when even Fox News is having a pop at you...

Quote:
Fox News henchman Peter Doocy brutally confronts Donald Trump to his face for destroying the economy with his disastrous tariffs — while Elon Musk lurks in shame nearby.

What was supposed to be a Tesla sales pitch quickly devolved into a humiliating mess...

"President Trump, you're buying a new car while there are some folks who will see this clip at home and they are struggling with their retirement accounts down at the moment, uncertainty about work ahead..." said Doocy.

"Well, I think they're gonna do great. I think we're, uh, our country had to do this. We had to go and do this," said Trump. "They've taken away... Other countries have taken away our business. They've taken away our jobs."

"Uh, I did it, uh, initially very strongly against — as you know China and some others in the first term — and it was a very successful term," continued Trump. "We had no inflation."

"We had the greatest economy in the history of our country and then we had COVID which we had to straighten out," said Trump, conveniently eliding the fact that he botched the pandemic response.

The confrontation came during a PR event at the White House during which Trump touted his decision to buy a Tesla, a pathetic and transparent effort to boost the plummeting stock of his oligarch puppetmaster's flagship company.
Elon Musk himself was present for the proceedings, wearing the trademark sunglasses that many have speculated are meant to hide his alleged ketamine abuse.

At another point during the tacky car salesman routine, Trump was confronted by a different reporter—

"Mr. President you mentioned the ups and downs in the stock market. You said it'll go up, it'll go down but do you and your tariff policies right now bear any responsibility for the turmoil we're seeing this week?" asked a reporter.

"No, I think that uh... Biden gave us a horrible economy," lied Trump. "He gave us horrible inflation and I think the, uh, market was gonna go very, very bad."
The truth, of course, is that we are hurtling towards a recession because Trump decided to hit Canada and Mexico with punishing tariffs for no discernible reason beyond exciting his xenophobic base.

"Uh, if anything I have a lot of very smart people, friends of mine, and great businessman, they're now investing because of what I'm doing," Trump claimed. "Because long term what I'm doing is making our country strong again."

"Financially strong. Militarily strong," he continued. "And strong — and we want to get away — remember this, we have wars — when I left we had no wars. We didn't have Ukraine and Russia. We didn't have October 7th. We didn't have that disaster that took place with the withdrawal from Afghanistan and you look at what's happened there."

Outside of the lie-riddled and inane remarks Trump spewed, the event itself was an utter disgrace. Using the White House to sell cars for a billionaire crony is a new low for the American presidency.

They are here. Do you know what the cap is here? £54k per seat you are contesting in the election, so realistically, you are looking at a maximum of about £30M (or around $38M) TOTAL for the campaign.

Now granted the US has about five times the population, so let's scale that up to say $200M total. Do you think it could be run in the US on that?

I'm not sure what the rules here in Australia, but we just had a state election in Western Australia on Saturday.

I can still the campaign sign on the Highways and banners cable tied to fences at polling places. Absolute waste of money and resources.

The man doesn't even drive (and wouldn't be allowed to right now anyhow), who was supposed to believe this stunt? If it wasn't Musk and his brand and it was just an attempt to encourage the Right to accept EVs better, fine, but it's just an attempt to prop up Musk, who in turn wants to give Trump organizations some millions. Isn't that a conflict of interest?

And considering a lot of Trump’s policies are anti EV, where’s the point?

Yeah, was wondering about that. Are his supporters who reject EVs going to flip on how they feel about them now...or just feel confused about what to think? lol

You remaining lefties are so cliche. Most centered and right policies don't have a problem with "EVs" on the market. The dissention is the right being pro Capitalism whereas the left always wants to outlaw things for "progress".

You stunted f's.

I don’t have an issue with EVs. The other half owned a hybrid as her previous car. Some of the plans however, at least here, are way too ambitious for the timelines proposed.

But my point was Trump doesn’t appear to like EVs. So you disagree that the points made for example in this article are not conflicting by promoting the suicide trucks flogged by his new pal?

Definitely seeing articles about it and appears it's not the only college being hit with big cuts to funding that would have gone into medical research. Columbia University appears slapped with it because of student protests? (Even if the stance of those involved students isn't agreed with, why deprive the college itself of important funding?) Sounds like Havard and others announced a hiring freeze to due to uncertainty of the funding.

Might also be due to this.

Essentially if you are doing any research that isn’t also applicable to white males, it’s going to be rejected.

So, no research into female only or predominantly female issues such as ovarian and breast cancer? Sickle cell treatments for people of African descent? Also as the instagram video notes (which shows you probably didn't watch it), some of the words and language that is now banned is present in almost ALL papers regardless of targets or subjects. So effectively blocks any paper that even mentions "bias" even if it references "white" or "male". It's the fact that even the words "female" or "women" are banned makes it a pure misogynistic hate roster.

But of course, deflection from what you actually are, standard playbook when in power. Another GOPedo found…

Bad enough that there had been some openly anti-gay lawmakers in the past who then got caught being a hypocrite (can't even remember now who it was that was caught in a men's restroom with another guy), but at least in those cases it was (hopefully) between consenting adults.

But this?? Wow, wtf. Why am I not surprised though... Too often seems like the loudest ones end up guilty. If they make an unusually loud show of objection then no one will suspect them, huh?
