Time will tell if he does the same now or is allowed to cut looser than he did in the 2000s when things were different.

A lot of what he's written since I've really enjoyed like It's A Sin and Years and Years, and they are very, very woke.
Progressivism back than and are two very different things. So this argument is pointless. Its like saying Star Trek was always progressive, or surprise, Star Wars, even if they subtle about it.

But if he delivers goods and won't make it a political pontification, fine by me.

That's true enough. I think I tried to point it out in my post, but if it got lost somehow, sorry about that.

Oh there will doubtlessly be political pontification, it's just he'll probably deliver the goods in doing so.

He's on record saying most of the younger, 'woke' script writers in Hollywood are terrible.

Jonathan Groff is set to appear in the new series of Doctor Who in a key guest role.

Russell T Davies, showrunner of the popular British drama, in a statement said of landing Groff in the popular BBC and Disney+ series: “This is an incredible coup, and a great honor, to get such a huge star striding on to our set. So strap on your space boots; this is going to be a blast!”

Groff had a breakout role as Jesse in the comedy drama Glee. His credits since then have included Knock at the Cabin, the Mindhunter series and The Matrix Resurrections, in which he played Agent Smith.

According to a leaked press release, due to be made official during Eurovision, the three titles are revealed in the trailer, each special is 60 minutes.

Here's the press release (found on a discord)

Quote:
Moments before the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final came live from Liverpool in the UK, viewers were transported out of this world as an explosive new trailer gave viewers an exciting glimpse of what to expect later this year.

The TARDIS lands in time to celebrate its 60th anniversary, and the trailer exclusively revealed the titles of the three special episodes coming later this year.

Special One: The Star Beast
Special Two: Wild Blue Yonder
Special Three: The Giggle

In the weeks leading up to the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, three mysterious coded teasers were scattered through the UK's BBC One schedule. Each teaser included a binary code which gave eagle-eyed fans clues to one of the three special episode titles. The teasers all pointed to a big reveal on the night of the Eurovision Grand Final when the new trailer announced the titles. If you missed them or were outside the UK, the teasers also went out on Doctor Who social channels, counting down to the Eurovision Grand Final.

Russell T Davies, Showrunner said: "The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor's biggest adventure yet. Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna and disaster about to be unleashed!"

Stay tuned for more news on the new series of Doctor Who...

Big Finish's revival of RTD's 1990s CBBC drama Dark Season is now available, with Kate Winslet among the cast, reprising her role from the series, here's a chat Russel had with Scott Hankcock about it

Trailer for the audio

Remember when everyone was up-in-arms about The Doctor being a female, and let’s not forget ‘Missy’, how long before the freak out over the new guy being black begins?

It would have happened by now. Feels like he was announced ages ago.

The Jodie back lash happened straight away.

Lmao not necessarily, it could happen as soon as his episodes start airing. Ye her backlash started after her announcement, but it got worse as her seasons continued, all I’m saying is give it time

Doctor Who was mentioned as one of the programmes potentially affected by the possible SAG-AFRTA strike in this Deadline article

Quote:
British series with U.S. involvement such as the now-Disney+ co-production Doctor Who all likely would be hit
https://deadline.com/2023/06/hollywo...ct-1235427558/

Hmm...this would definitely affect someone like Jynx Monsoon, assuming they have plans for them beyond this series, and Ncuti himself may be SAG due to appearing in Netflix dramas and the Barbie movie.

Although there are at least three other panels related to Doctor Who at this year's SDCC, there will be no main panel for the 60th anniversary due to solidarity with the striking WGA (and potentially a striking SAG this week)

Peter Davison's sequel to his 50th anniversary spoof "The Five-Ish Doctors" will not be going ahead as his sense of humour didn't quite "fit with the times"
