I was thinking Happy as well. His role in the Spider-Man films is played out and he'd be a suitable "sacrifice".

Garfield says he's not in it.
https://www.comicbookmovie.com/spide...gs.e47d.07ocef But if you watch the video... Garfield gets super weird and super specific when the interviewer guy asks him to swear on "whatever you've got around there" that he's not in it. Rather than do so, all he says after an awkward pause is, "Well, I never got the call." So... it was an E-mail, then? You know? Just seems like a bit of a performance here.

For an actor, he is a bad liar! Still, there must be a lot of pressure on him to not let anything slip, so I get it.
Notice just how "over the top" he is with his denial. |

Maybe he just gets a minor cameo? Obviously people aren't as interested in him returning as Tobey, I imagine he would get the less screentime of the two.

Enter Garfield- how bout 3? So he'd mostly just be in the final moments of the movie, possibly long enough if the trailers wanna spoil it or not.

I hope Sam Raimi is ghost-directing this thing.
Man, it would have been awesome to have a cameo of Stan Lee in this, where a Spider-Man pulls of his mask and it's him. |

So they introduce Green Goblin via bringing back OG Green Goblin from the first movie?
Well, I might say its rather creative approach to connect a mess that is Spider-Man movies. Though, of course, its all depends on how it will be realized. Also, I hope it won't be an ongoing trend and not every "cinematic universe" will start relying on past movies, instead of creating something new. I late about, right? What with DC's Flashpoint? |

Gene Hackman's Lex and Jack Nicholson's Joker will turn out to be the evil masterminds of the entire cosmic shebang, just to give me a stroke and ensure I never f*cking watch another comic book movie for the rest of my life.
And the internet rubes will say it's the best thing ever.

In other words they're going to stuff Venom 2 with a bunch of spinoff leading crap like they did all the Amazing SM movies.

That coy dangling of Spider-Man on a stick is old. Especially as it becomes clear how poor their universe is shaping up.
They're going to keep on teasing it as a possibility, but by the time it happens, no one will want it anyway. We want Spider-Man to go up against cool villains. It's sad because I actually think they are trying. It's like they looked at the MCU and thought "everyone told them Cap and Thor were C-list characters, but the MCU showed you can make stars out of any character." And that's probably true. They're even taking their time and building out the universe one character at a time - smart - but the execution is still awful with Venom, and by the looks of it Venom 2. It seems ASM had taught Sony nothing.
Well, **** them. Instead of making decent standalone movies, they still chasing carrot of "cinematic universe", though they are more even MORE incompetent than DC in this case. DC at least managed to squeeze few interconnected movies, while Sony failed to produce even two movies set in the same universe, sequels aside. |

A little more on it.
https://www.darkhorizons.com/sony-ch...-future-plans/ Sony actually could have had something decent going. But Venom was pretty blase and now we're getting a PG-13 Carnage movie? Dumb. I don't see the point.

Sounds like Sony are really pushing the idea that they have a “Marvel Universe”, as opposed to a “Spider-Man universe”.
Branding wise, that’s probably smart, as they are tired of being pestered with questions about Spider-Man when they seemingly can’t use him. Has to be annoying for Marvel though, having Sony trying to play it like they are essentially “the other MCU”. |
