i've watched the show since season one.
the writing is inconsistent, characters flip-flop all over the place, and storylines drag out and go nowhere. i watched the show long before i was introduced to the comics. glad i did discover the comics. at least it has some redeeming qualities. as the tv series goes on it shows less and less zombies. want to know why? cuz they can save budget. it's become a glorified soap opera.

Looks like the show might give a F this season. Maybe two. "The Walking Dead is allowed to use the F-word in season 8" https://www.google.com/amp/www.indep...421.html%3famp Last edited by TurtleWA; 09-26-2017 at 08:24 PM. |

AMC decided to kill the only good thing they do all year long in the FearFest horror marathon for this month (its only a week this year) because they feel the need to air EVERYTHING Walking Dead because of the season 8 premiere. TWD has got to be one of the most overrated "horror" shows on television going today.

The midseason premiere was all kinds of bad. Last night's episode was surprisingly good.

So, no more Carl... and no more Rick? No Andrea, no Carl, no Rick... and people wonder why I don't watch the show...

People getting triggered by it, complaining to the FCC (who has no jurisdiction over cable TV):

These people DO realize this is The Walking Dead and not Touched By An Angel, right?
EDIT: The people complaining about commercials for it, though... yeah, THEY have a good point. That's entirely fair.

Except that most of the revenue from TV is in advertising, and that's one of the most popular shows on TV. So even asking them to only air commercials for it during certain times of day, while reasonable-sounding on paper, simply isn't practical from a dollars-and-cents standpoint.
I look at it like this... when I listen to classic rock stations, I know I'm gonna get hit, at some point, with a Grateful Dead song, because they're part of what that station advertises. Keep in mind, Grateful Dead songs literally give a person brain damage, but they still get heavy rotation and airplay, anyway, despite being very bad for you. As a listener/viewer/participant, I now have to choose where my personal line is drawn. I can suffer through, knowing the song after that one will absolutely be better because it by definition can't get any worse. I can change the station temporarily, to spare myself a moment of grief, while knowing that I also might switch back too late and miss part of something good, but that's the risk inherent. Or, the most extreme reaction, I can simply stop going to that station entirely, since I know for a fact that at some point I'm going to be force-fed something gross, and I have to decide whether the hassle is worth it. What I most certainly am NOT gonna do, is try and make the rest of the world change its ways in deference to MY personal tastes. I'm not gonna write angry letters and try to annoy the station manager into giving me undue attention, I'm not going to try and get anyone to lose their job, and I'm not going to demand sanctions against the people who run and program content for the station. What I watch or listen to is my own personal choice and responsibility, and I already have plenty of options for how to navigate the wilds of the fields of entertainment, how to filter what I do and don't want to be exposed to. It's amazing to me how many "grown adults" can't find the maturity to do the same. I don't watch the show, but I do like the games and have a very small passing familiarity with the comics. There's a group of people out there whose endgame is really simply just, "This kind of thing simply shouldn't be allowed, period." And f*ck those people, never give 'em a single inch. It starts with, "I don't want to see this," and if you concede, it quickly becomes "NOBODY should be allowed to see this, ever," and the line is incredibly thin. They betray themselves with lines about how "sick" and "filthy" and "vile" anyone who could think of or enjoy such programming must be, rather than simply describing them as "mature adults with a clear grasp of the difference between Real and Make-Believe", which is more than can reasonably be said to describe those who complain. The first step in getting people to accept censorship, is in painting anyone who likes something you don't like as a twisted, evil person. F*ck these sandy-vag'ed Nancys. I don't empathize with them at all. Christ, when I was 7 I walked in on my Dad watching a rather explicit porno movie. I didn't pitch a fit about the horrors I'd just witnessed, I just left the room and snuck downstairs after dark to steal the tape off the top of the bookshelf like a normal person. None of this, "People shouldn't see this kinda thing" nonsense. People need to grow up.

Finally got the season finale. It was pretty good, though I think the show would benefit from them dialing up the Negan factor. He can be the new Rick. Daryl, he can't do it, and they're not even trying with him (and they shouldn't because Norman Reedus doesn't have that in him).
Though apparently... this isn't the season finale anymore? They're adding 6 more episodes for next year, then making season 11 (the final season) 24 episodes?
