I don't think 130,000 copies printed in a dying medium is enough for viacom to care. Two decades back copies that sold that much were cancelled on the spot for being failures.

Your average fan is never going to know what, "The Ronin" is.

They'll think you're talking about some Japanese samurai movie or Usagi Yojimbo.

You're focusing too much on the medium. The message is "wow, people really like adult TMNT" whether the medium is dying or not.
On the contrary - the more books you sell in a dying medium, the more impressive the feat, no?

They don't need to re-ignite the comic book industry for the book to prove a point. They just need to outsell the "kiddie"version of TMNT, which they have. Then the question becomes "Does this version outsell the kiddie version in the movie, and television series, etc too?"

Even if it generally sticks to the comics, there will certainly be more of its type, which is a step in the right direction. Less censored TMNT comics would be a sweet victory.

I wouldn't discount the success of the book though, just because the industry it is in is not in it's prime. Judge it according to other comic books today, not Jim Lee's X-Men #1 of the 90's. "Three Jokers" was also a big success, sales wise, last year. No one is comparing that to comic sales from two decades ago and claiming Joker actually isn't that popular, because those sales are just a drop in the bucket compared to the 90's, y'know?

Also keep in mind that this was a comic book sold at more than double the typical price. So yeah, more expensive to produce, but it's raking in a ton of money.

Sure. Probably not. Unless they make a movie. Mostly irrelevant to the point though. "Ronin" doesn't need to be a thing to casual fans for the point to be valid.

With the success of the Last Ronin. That is something I could see adapted as an animated movie, In much the same way they adapted Batman vs TMNT.

Aqua: Just a friendly reminder that you're arguing semantics with a sh*tposting troll who swears that "internet consensus" is the Be-All and End-All for every single thing.

He's got the inside scoop and is always right, don'tcha know. That's why not one single person on planet Earth has bought a DVD since 2008, why every cable and satellite service provider went out of business in 2012, why games have been digital-only for about ten years and why the entire print comics industry went belly-up the moment people realized that they could read tiny comics pages on their cell phone for free.

He knows what's best for everyone, and he's way ahead of the curve. That's why everyone always agrees with him and finds him so f*cking charming.

Yes, we're getting a rated R TMNT movie, Physical media will again overtake digital starting this year and type writers will be replacing computers at jobs because of people watching Netflix at 2.5 x speed all because Wonder Woman did well in theaters. And I get paid to do market analysis so that would actually make me a professional sh-tposter, suck it wagies.

Hmmm, it seems that lack of nuance really is the issue with you.

One of many. Too many to count.

sdp doesn't have "issues", he has f*cking subscriptions.

And good Lord, he actually gets paid to advance the "only consensus counts" narrative. This explains just, so much about everything he's ever posted as well as the completely broken worldview.

"Market research analyst" is almost as useless as being a high school guidance counselor. I'd never brag about that. I'm sure it pays well, but there's nothing moral about telling people their own individual thoughts and opinions don't matter because "everyone else" disagrees. And that's literally all that job is. "Statistics show us that Red sells more than Blue. Blue is therefore useless." Good lord, what a waste of a life. That's like the polar opposite of "nuance", it's nothing less than a job completely dedicated to eradicating independent thought and forcing everyone into groupthink.

I mean, do you, man, but don't try and claim any kind of "superiority" over anyone else, because it simply isn't there. To someone like me who values individualism over all else, you may as well be Satan.

What recent push? You mean that game? The point of that is clearly to homage the Konami games as well as possible, that's why it looks like the Fred Wolf cartoon. And it's like one thing, what else is there?

I really can't see a full series.

But I can see them doing a movie or special with the 80's Turtles. That would probably be ideal, since it's also easier to get the old voice actors to reprise their roles for a single movie than a full series that could potentially go on multiple seasons. Hell the Rise of the TMNT movie could be a testing ground of movies set in various TMNT universes if we're lucky going forward.

Only if it's a full on 80's TMNT movie. Enough with the crossovers where the joke is 'the 80's Turtles suck'. There wouldn't be ANY modern day TMNT cartoons if the 80's Turtles legit sucked and only had 1 season.

Yeah I meant a movie just about the original Turtles without any crossovers.
