Anyone know the history behind this? I don’t remember it from Eastman and Laird.

It’s based on The Flower Thrower by the street artist Banksy.

Thanks for that. Now it’s definitely a pass for me.

Never heard of him but street art isn’t art for me. Shame they wasted an Eastman and Laird inspired figure on a lame concept.

Interesting that you mention that. Banksy wasn’t meant to be simple or lame street art. The Flower Thrower (by substituting a weapon with flowers) was a political gesture for peace. The imagery was intended to capture the essence of the 1960’s campus and street riots scene. That's why the image is so prevalent in pop culture and a favorite among social activists.

I have no personal attachment to Banksy and I was just trying to figure out if public perception has changed since a few years ago...

However, having said this, the Raphael figure (statue?) does look pretty awesome and I would be interested if the price tag wasn't in Mondo territory...

As a person, yes. Some of his art's pretty good (although I prefer more old-school Wildstyle art), but I've heard from more than one mutual acquaintance that he's got his head up his arse.
