But, ya, dumping ROMs from cartridges you already own is legal, so long as it's only for private, personal use. Uploading said dumped ROMs to the internet isn't. And I could be wrong, but I believe I remember reading that downloading ROMs also isn't legal even if it's of a game you already own, with it only being legal if you dump the ROM off of your own cartridge. Though, most people don't have a means to dump ROMs, anyway, so most of the time when people are talking about ROMs, they are talking about piracy.

I just did something real clever to get the game I wanted. The Hyperstone Heist costs between $40 - $150 on eBay, but right now for a limited time, the Cowabunga Collection on the PlayStation Store is going for $15.99 and I had $28.27 remaining in my PlayStation account from when I cashed in my Sony Rewards for PlayStation money. I bought it for $17.35 after tax, leaving me with $10.92 left over in my account. So basically, I got all 13 games for free rather than spending hundreds on all the game since the money spent was from my Sony Rewards. I was just curious about the game's price and saw that it's on sale 60% off and decided to go for it.
Isn't that a smart idea or what? They're currently downloading from the PS Store; it has about 50 minutes left with 8.9 GB. |
