Ohoho... That Round Robin. What a scam.
Suicide Squad Dark lost on Twitter and DC's website, but won on Instagram, goes onto the next round. Not sure why they can't just have ONE poll, and just link on their various social medias just to avoid confusion. Maybe the Instagram did have a landslide more votes like DC claims, but still. One poll would avoid confusion, and people calling them out. Anyway, Suicide Squad Dark's gonna win because Batman's in it. Bleh. |

Connor losing any poll just shows the fix is in.

I am finishing my 'best of Flash volume 2' run and reading 'Born to Run'. It brought up a couple of things. First, Iris is killed by Reverse Flash in 1979 upsetting Alex Ross. She is sci-fi revived before Barry dies this time in 1985. Wally is suggesting that Iris is dead in his narration in the first chapter. I thought she was around and was reoccurring off and on through Flash volume 2?
Also, I did not realize that Sam Scudder was brought back from the dead with the New 52 and for what reasons? 11 years too late on noticing! Rarely are people successfully replaced especially villains and Captain Boomerang's death was not handled well. I realize a number of the classic villains were killed off, but switching Scudder back in from McCollum is as unnecessary as Ted Carson stealing the Firefly gimmick from Garfield Lynns. As interesting as the fraternity and Snart's sister dynamic is, they need to appear separately.

Leo, what would you say are the highlights of Wally Wesy's Flash volume 2? I am curious if my 'best of' set is missing anything I might be interested in.

Joshua Williamson has confirmed he's leaving Robin. Some of his storylines will be continued in the mini-series Batman vs Robin by Mark Waid

The storyline leading up to issue #50, the Vandal Savage/Lady Flash one where Wally gets his "liquid metal" costume, that was a good one. The "Return of Barry Allen" arc around #75 is the best Flash story ever. Flash Annual #3 from 1989 is fantastic all around. It's been so long since I've dug through my boxes that a ton of stuff is slipping my mind. I've been cleaning out the storage room though so if I get to that box I might dig some stuff out to read and get back to you.

A little commentary on the current run on Nightwing. It is written by Tom 'Two Face' Taylor, a socialist hippie commentator. It is reflected in Dick Grayson's humanitarian mission of creating a community within Bludhaven for those in need similar to Lex Luthor's scheme in the Justice League cartoon with Lexor City. The commentary here is easy to ignore because it focuses on two things that I feel that highlight Dick Grayson best. His relationships with other characters and the dialogue are fantastic. The consistency of guest stars show that on his own Dick Grayson is not a strong lead, however if he is a part of a team he thrives in the lead.
I am not that big on him as Nightwing, I prefer him as either half of the Dynamic Duo as his character shines best as a part of a team. That being said, I also love the constant flashbacks to his time as Robin. I am getting a good helping of it between this and Waid's Batman/Superman: World's Finest. It's great to see character moments that make me smile with Barbara Gordon, Bruce Wayne, Wally West primarily and to a lesser extent Alfred and other Titans. This sudden admiration that Superman Jr. has for Grayson does not make any sense beyond the fact the characters are sharing the same writer at the moment. The art is also suburb and takes liberties such as the issue of Nightwing's handicap puppy being kidnapped and it was left to the reader to follow a single frame. The story is an unnatural blend of liberal philosophy with a conservative approach, reliance on his time as Robin and his history with other characters to allow him to shine and thus the run itself. Even dusting off the once dead Blockbuster II and retroactive ties to his past through Haley and his supposed paternal half-sister. This reliance on character interactions and flashbacks is giving me what I want yet I can see people stating it is holding him back. I am just surprised at how conservative yet liberal this comic is. It's unnatural. Overall, I am enjoying it. I have read complaints that the plot is dragging out slowly. One needs to recall that Fear State interrupted the narrative and it showed us a story that one did not have to read the actual Fear State storyline yet completely understood what was going on without having to read a page of the Batman title or one-shot specials. That is an achievement! Also, the issue spaces were needed for the character moments with Barbara, Bruce, Wally, and others. I also enjoy the flashbacks. Sure, whatever Heartless is after is taking its time, but if he acted quickly then we would not have gotten Wally lashing out at KG Beast or Barbara suit up alongside Dick more than once. Hopefully we can get more of the Heartless part of the storyline soon resolve, I am expecting by #95's conclusion it will be done.

That annoyed me in Arkham Knight. The game goes to great lengths to foreshadow Azrael replacing Bruce Wayne as Batman, and even though it's different from the comics it's mostly fine... except that it's FAKE Azrael and Jean-Paul is never mentioned and thus I imagine doesn't exist in the game's universe.
They should just pass a law and make it official that you can't have blonde, blue-eyed white people in works of fiction anymore. Since "they're all Nazis and thus need to be replaced by non-whites". Just put it on paper instead of being all passive-aggressive about it.

And then Batman became woke. Ignoring BLM-ish riots to solve other crimes, after all the big companies have insurance. Yet when his place is broken until, he fights them off rather than let them in. Doesn't he have insurance?
And then he says the only reason he doesn't let the joker fall to his death is because kids are watching. https://t.co/pdRAiAA1d7 I'm starting to wonder, were the Rodney King riots portrayed in comics back then or at least an expy of them, cause I don't remember. Back then the heroes were actually fighting super villains, not George Bush expires or whatever

I wonder if next issue he'll donate most of his money to the poor since that seems to be the left's answer to everything.
Or maybe Batman will step down and let Signal be the new Batman cause BLM. I mean this is the same guy that saved the Joker from death row cause he was actually innocent of that particular crime when he coulda sit back and let him die in exchange for all the other crimes he actually did commit. And now he's saying the only reason he's not letting joker die is because 'how will he explain it to the kids'. I hate new writers that don't understand the character they're writing. Like this isn't Harper Row or Kite Man, it's ****ing Batman. How do you not understand Batman?
