Adult Swim Revive ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’, ‘The Venture Bros.’ & ‘Metalocalypse’

Three popular Adult Swim series are getting a feature take: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse and The Venture Bros.

Rather than send the movies straight to Adult Swim’s sister HBO Max immediately, the pics will get a release worldwide on Blu-ray/DVD and PVOD and electronic-sell-through (EST) with a 90-day exclusive window before hitting the streaming service and Adult Swim.

All three of the series were some of the first original productions to air on Adult Swim.

“Leveraging the power of WarnerMedia allows us to deliver original content to our amazingly dedicated and not-shy fans, while also giving our talented series creators an opportunity to tell stories in new and interesting ways,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim.

Wasn't ATHF canned because it's... You know... Kinda trashy? I don't mean in a tone sort of way, all AS show are pretty crass, I mean in a budget way. I think the exact wording about the cancellation was "It's time to move on from it", which I took to mean "This dirt-cheap thing is getting embarrassing to show off now that we have higher budget shows". Nearly all episodes use the same, in and of themselves low budget, animation cycles made for season 1. Like 90% of the animation for the main characters is recycled from the first few episodes. It's a funny show, it's just that I'm a bit curious why they want to bring it back six years after they thought it was passé?

Sort of? Just makes wonder why it was canned in the first place, it's not like it was costing them a lot in the first place. Cancelling Boondocks made sense, the animation did seem fairly expensive and it took forever for new episodes to get made. Not so much ATHF.
