Fat people generally have health problems, so I don't know why "fat shamming" became a thing. Not everyone has to be a supermodel or skinny as a toothpick, but if you're overweight that's because you're damaging your own body. So they deserve to be told to "lose weight."

Family expressing concern or their doctor bringing it up, sure.

No one "deserves to be told" anything so intrusive by anyone else in private matters pertaining to their own body. They are make their own choices like all of us. They know they're fat. If they hurt themselves with those choices, that is on them.

i.e. Keep drinking all that soda you supposedly survive on and see what happens after 40... but that's your choice.

The funny part about the fat positivity movement, is all that 'it doesn't matter if you're 500 pounds as long as you feel good about yourself' really falls apart when they can't even go up a short flight of stairs without feeling like they ran a marathon. I don't care what they tell themselves, that CAN'T feel good and it's reality hitting them in the face.

Also that insanity about wanting to lose weight meaning you have fatphobia and such nonsense. I still remember how they turned on Adele when she lost weight as if she some sort of traitor.

Yeah, that stuff has gone to the extremes, esp if people are turning it into an identity and being a-holes to others for their own personal decision to lose some pounds.

If someone is big and happy with what they are, well that's kind of a "you do you" thing imo, but the negative consequences are also on them and it shouldn't be up to everyone else to accommodate beyond reason. I get that some people are genetically predisposed to being overweight and that makes it harder, but it's not some kind of "disorder" that lacks options or the ability to make choices and get help to help improve it.

I don‘t think obesity is a problem that should be played down or enabled especially in Western Europe and the US where it‘s a major factor for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. People shouldn’t be bullied for what is often basically an addiction but constructing a `positive body image`around a health problem is similarly stupid.

Of course, it‘s ironic when a user like CyberCubed keeps going on and on about it. I‘m pretty sure you once wrote that you barely have any healthy teeth anymore because you drink Soda every day?! Be careful in that glasshouse of yours.

Yeah, but Cybercubed is one of those rare cases where I legit doubt he cares. He seems pretty happy just living his best (?) life while fantasizing about that Supergirl actress and watching pirated movies on 1.5 speed.
