Every Breath You Take - Sting & The Police
Every Breath You Take - Sting & The Police - YouTube Lyrics Every breath you take Every move you make Every bond you break Every step you take I'll be watching you Every single day Every word you say Every game you play Every night you stay I'll be watching you Oh, can't you see You belong to me How my poor heart aches With every step you take Every move you make Every vow you break Every smile you fake Every claim you stake I'll be watching you Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace I dream at night I can only see your face I look around but it's you I can't replace I feel so cold and I long for your embrace I keep crying baby, baby please Oh, can't you see You belong to me How my poor heart aches With every step you take Every move you make Every vow you break Every smile you fake Every claim you stake I'll be watching you Every move you make Every step you take I'll be watching you I'll be watching you I'll be watching you I'll be watching you I'll be watching you Whoo, hoo (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you I'll be watching you (Every single day) (Every word you say) (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you (Every move you make) (Every vow you break) (Every smile you fake) (Every claim you stake) I'll be watching you (Every single day) (Every word you say) (Every game you play) (Every night you stay) I'll be watching you Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Gordon Sumner Every Breath You Take lyrics © Gm Sumner UMG (on behalf of Polydor Associated Labels); BMI - Broadcast Music Inc., LatinAutor - SonyATV, CMRRA, LatinAutorPerf, UNIAO BRASILEIRA DE EDITORAS DE MUSICA - UBEM, Sony ATV Publishing, SOLAR Music Rights Management, and 8 Music Rights Societies |

I called it 'The Stalker Song' for years. It is ironic in that a band called The Police put it out and it's their best known hit. It is also funny that that this is the latest song CyberCubed copy and pasted the lyrics to to start a random thread. Maybe he is insinuating something?
Anyway, I do like the beat to this 80's classic.

This sh*t only works when I do it and at least I keep it confined to the "What Are You Listening To Now?" thread.

Do you think this song would be considered "problematic" if it came out today? It has a male singer and look at these lyrics:
"I'll be watching you Every single day Every word you say Every game you play Every night you stay I'll be watching you" "Every move you make Every vow you break Every smile you fake Every claim you stake I'll be watching you" Almost seems to imply he's a male stalker watching every move a woman makes, as if he's "controlling" her life and how she feels. Then look at these lyrics: "Oh, can't you see You belong to me" He then basically says the female "belongs to him" implying she has no free will of her own. This song would be torn to shreds if it came out today instead of in the 80's. |

I think that often we get caught up in the concept of "if today..." when in fact there are always people looking to increase their self importance by causing an issue with something.
So the short answer is yes, but the current ways of thinking have only given rise to more people who play the "problematic" card. There has always been and will always be that guy. |

Imagine the freedom of thought of the 80's with the possibilities of our modern connected era...
