LucasArts shut down

You heard right, Disney SHUT DOWN LucasArts, which also means that 1313 is CANCELLED and 150 people working at their dream job are now out of their jobs But those assholes at Disney don't care about anything except for getting payed. REGARDLESS of who their decisions hurt. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU BASTARDS!

I posted this in the Episode 7 thread, but ill repost here:

It looks like the Mickey Moff has initiated Order 66 on LucasArts.
Disney closes LucasArts:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/carolpin...own-lucasarts/

I fear I will never see my long awaited Battlefront 3, Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering...

But It's not all bad. This means more capable companies will get a chance to develop the next Star Wars games. After all, the last game LucasArts made was Star Wars Kinect, soooo ya maybe its a good thing.

LucasArts had a good run and may it be one with the Force.

Some more news about the 1313 game:
http://kotaku.com/before-it-was-canc...o-be-470003660 looked pretty cool, but it had been plagued with problems well before Disney got ahold of it.

"Not all bad" means while the majority of this news is very unfortunate, there is still a chance some good may yet come out of it. I don't wish unemployment on ANYONE, and I hope these people manage to find other work quickly. But you don't go into the gaming industry to get a stable job, just look at all the changes that have occurred in the last 10 years. I have stood by and watched this company (or former company) shell out crappy cash-in after cash-in over the last few years, while ignoring the desires of true fans for a well thought out "true" star wars game.

List the best LucasArts games you can think of. Go ahead, I'll wait...................

You've probably got a pretty big list there, right?
Now look at your list and tell me how many of your choices were released in the past 5 or 6 years? Slim pickins, eh? The last LA games I had any enjoyment playing were Empire At War: Forces of Corruption and the first Force Unleashed game. When a company fails to produce anything near a quality product (ie the latest release- Kinect Star Wars), it should come as no surprise to see said company dismantled.

They were magnificent "A Long Time Ago", but that doesn't mean they should be able to ride the coattails of their previous successes.

More capable companies were already able to develop Star Wars games.

Star Wars Kinect was not made by LucasArts, but by one of the "more capable companies".

^Dude get your facts straight, Terminal Reality may have helped with the production but that was a decision made by LucasArts. Thats LucasArts' picture right on the game cover!

Which decision? They didn't make the game.

Because LucasArts published the game. There is a LucasArts logo on the cover of every Star Wars game, it doesn't mean they made them all.

So they're not at fault for handing their projects off to other companies, not monitoring the quality of the developing product, and finally receiving said product and realizing it is a total piece of garbage but still releasing it under their name??

I suppose if they took a cowpie and slapped their logo on it and sold it to the public you'd say "well its not LucasArts' fault, its the cow that made it stink"...

If it's a piece of garbage or not is irrelevant (and subjective). The fact is that they just published the game. Same thing with KotOR (and any other game developed by a third party), for example. I don't praise LucasArts for KotOR. I praise BioWare because they were the ones who made it.

Do you know the role LucasArts had on each game they've released? And have you actually read what I wrote?

And that's relevant for the discussion in what way?

But here: The Force Unleashed, The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition, LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition, Tales of Monkey Island, The Old Republic.

Thats a joke right? If LucasArts had been an employee in any other career path(except maybe the senate) they'd have been fired long ago.

Seriously? 2 of your 5 examples are special editions of games made in 1990 and 1991! I get it, you're a fanboy- I'm a fan too. But sometimes its best to put Old Yeller out of its misery.

No, it's a genuine question which you were unable to answer.

Which took time, money and work to do (and release, of course).

EA has the rights to Star Wars games now.

I think this is interesting. I'm curious as to what Visceral and DICE can do, and Bioware already has experience, so even better.
