Linkin Park Selects Emily Armstrong From Rock Band Dead Sara as New Singer

https://variety.com/2024/music/news/...ur-1236120238/

Linkin Park‘s new co-vocalist will be Emily Armstrong of the band Dead Sara, the band announced Thursday during a live performance event. Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, will also join the group as a drummer.

The announcement came with a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” the band’s first new music release in seven years, and the lead track for an upcoming album dubbed “From Zero.” The set will arrive on Nov. 15 (via Warner Records) as their first full-length effort since 2017’s “One More Light,” also the last Linkin Park album before the death of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.

I like it. It started off the right way with Mike taking the lead at the beginning to remind us all it's still LP, and then passed it along to Emily who did a great job with the rest.

Not terrible. The new singer seems tonally in line with that dead fellow.

It feels a bit like they chose a woman to avoid getting accused of hiring a Chester copycat as the new singer. But her timbre and style are VERY reminiscent of Chester.

I was never a big fan (too formulaic) but Chester Bennington was an amazing vocalist.

No surprise, twitter hates her because she's a Scientologist

They were going to get push back regardless of who they brought in. I understand you can't replace a singer but they do realize that Chester actually replaced Scott Weiland right before he died too, right?

I just saw her performance on Numb, and she is terrible. So she is a big no to me. I just don't think LP can recover. Chester made the band.

Already some fans are replacing her on vocals with Chester A.I dubs

Bit unfair to her, I don't think she's that bad.

Lots of replacement singers nowadays trying hard to live up to their originals - Jeff Gutt in STP, William Duvall in AIC and many more. Nothing wrong with LP trying to push forward.

It won't be LP as we all knew it, but they deserve to move forward.

I was sceptical about Duvall when he was first announced as the new singer but he brought something new to AiC. First, with him Jerry Cantrell became their lead singer with Will only singing lead vocals about 40 per cent of the time on the new albums. Also, unlike Layne Staley Duvall is a good guitar player - check out his solo in "Phantom Limb" for example or recent live versions of "Got Me Wrong" where Jerry sings lead and Will improvises the solos. Live he is also fantastic.

Yeah he has really earned his place - I first saw him live when they opened for - ironically in many ways - Velvet Revolver in Tinley Park, IL during their tour. The Black Gives Way To Blue album is terrific through and through...

Haha man, when you said „trying hard“ in your first post, I mentally added „trying TOO hard“ and tried to defend Duvall. Then I saw your new post and was confused as hell but it turns out I‘m just dumb.

Apparently Chester's own son is against the idea. For all the people going with the 'it's what Chester would have wanted', I'm pretty sure his son would have a better idea about that than them.

Eh. If fans and the rest of the band (which also includes the main song writers) are cool with it, why not.

So pretty much... screw what the family thinks, right?

Well, obviously not but in this case the opinion of a family member should not have as much weight as what the actual band members think.

Nah you aren't dumb. It's because I'm a republican and you are a democrat. You're modality is primed that anything I say is an assault on whatever you believe.

But you know.... we got this because your brain turns on as opposed to... you know... other people.

Where‘s this coming from? I know you‘re an AiC fan (like me) and I misread your post so I was trying to point out what I like about new AiC. There was not even an iota of hostility in my post.
