Star Wars Episodes X-XII

Quote:
Lucasfilm has closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop a trilogy of Star Wars films. Kinberg will write the trio, and produce them with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy.

I heard this will comprise episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga that began with George Lucas’s 1977 first film that along with Steven Spielberg’s Jaws reshaped the global blockbuster game. Insiders disputed my intel that Kinberg will continue that storyline, saying this will instead begin a new saga, and sit alongside Star Wars percolating projects with James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi and Donald Glover. As usual, Lucasfilm and Disney are not commenting.

Kinberg previously worked with Lucasfilm in co-creating with Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck the Emmy-nominated animated series Star Wars Rebels that ran for four seasons from 2014-2018. He was also a consultant on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the J.J. Abrams-directed film that revived the franchise in 2015.

He has also been heavily involved in other franchises as writer and/or producer. That includes a decade spent on the X-Men films and the Logan spinoff film that starred Hugh Jackman and was directed by Mangold. He was also producer of the first two Deadpool films, and exec producer of the 2024 blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine; he produced the Ridley Scott-directed The Martian‘ and has scripted such films as Mr & Mrs Smith and co-wrote the film that launched the Sherlock Holmes franchise with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. He also produced the Kenneth Branagh Agatha Christie film trilogy that started with Murder on the Orient Express. In short, he’s comfortable in the franchise sphere.

Wouldn't this just be the new Rey trilogy?

I respect what FW cartoon did for the turtles franchise but it is the most overrated and hard to watch of the 3 turtles cartoons.

Probably. It might be "the Rey movie" quietly just morphs into the first one of this, minus that horrible, horrible director.

I haven‘t watched anything Star Wars related since Rogue One and I plan to keep it that way. I might watch the original trilogy with my kids later this year for the first time. But anything post 80s? No, thanks.

I’m sure you know this, but you’ve saved your self from a world of hurt. At least as far as theatrical releases go. I’ve heard mixed stuff about the D+ shows.

I don't know why they are rushing these so soon. They should wait till Daisy Ridley is like 35-40 until they do something with her again.

Like the last movie came out as recently as 2019...

Technically theres 10 movies in development, this ain't counting the trilogies as separate movies or else it's like 16. It's worse than the old DCEU announced movies at this point
I think the fate of all of them depend on the Mandalorian and Groggu movie.
I think the Mandalorian finale movie will still happen regardless as will one Rey movie at least. The rest it really depends on how everything else goes. So let's make sure not to watch any of them. I haven't watched any Star Wars content since Episode IX. And I only saw IX because kid me would've wanted to finish the trilogy.
The Rey movie is independent from Episode X.

Yeah I'd say they slightly re-purpose whatever assets they had going towards the original intent for that Rey trilogy (even if it's only a script plot outline or something - whatever they had). They will evolve from that.
