Don't know how many of you know Marvel Comics' Inhumans, but I'm a huge fan. I originally made the team around 2 1/2 years ago, but I've only recently finished the final member...

Lockjaw:

Well, this was probably the biggest challenge I've ever set myself... I started Lockjaw in August 2010, and finished him December 2012, although there was quite a bit of procrastination along the way... Rather than a huge write-up, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

Started with a rough skeleton...

Bulking out the frame...

Reworked some of the artic, and refined the sculpt...

The finished article! All the sculpting was done in either Milliput, Apoxie or a blend of both. To be honest, I'm not totally happy with him, but short of a total rebuild he's as good as he's gonna get. He's got a decent amount of articulation - ball & socket feet & torso, swivel shoulders, hinge knees and a swivel/hinge neck. I'd probably add ball shoulders if I was redoing him, but it's not like he's going to get a whole load of posing.

Here's a few that I've done over the past few months that I'm proud of.

Tasha - a figure based on a late friend of mine.

Sentinel-X - from the recent X-Men: Battle of the Atom crossover event.

Superman Blue - a look for Supes that I felt was underrated.

Double - from Skullgirls

Black Lantern Swamp Thing - from Brightest Day

Sadako from Ringu

Rogue Marvel vs. Capcom 2 version

Slender Man

Handmade 1/6th sonic for some incoming Tom Baker Figures. I wanted one to have a sonic with retracting emitter head. I am sure the one that comes with the figure is great but had to do something while waiting for the parcel guy. Used various size aluminum tube, a glass bead and the tip from a pen. Think this method would make a cool spyglass also.

I'm not sure if just repainting some areas on a figure counts as a "custom", but I didn't really know where to post it, so have a Digimon!

Never done anything like this before. Was fun, would do again

So I dabble in this sometimes, but I finally just about finished a figure I've been working on for a while, Jakks RA-scale "Macho Man" Randy Savage!

Mattel has put out a ton of great Macho Man figures, but Jakks never produced a single one, so while I have a huge Jakks collection it was always going to be incomplete without this guy! Just for fun, here's a Mattel 1980s-style Macho Man alongside my Jakks custom:

The attire is based on the classic WWF Hasbro Macho Man figure from 1990. I assembled it from a bearded Charlie Haas head and a Triple H body; pretty much any really muscular Jakks body will do, but I chose the Triple H body specifically because it had a taped fist and the right kind of knee pads. The entire figure was repainted by hand, including the stars and letters on the boots and trunks (which were a huge pain in the ass). I used a deep tan on the skin and then went over it with a wash of dark brown to give it more texture; it looks darker than most of the Jakks figures, but it also looks more natural and less like plastic, which is what I was going for, especially since Savage was extremely tan so a pale figure simply wouldn't do. I made the hair longer with Apoxie-Sculpt; I'd never used it before but I'm very happy with how it came out. For the hair I used a very dark brown, a black wash for texture, and then dry-brushed it with a slightly lighter brown for a little bit of a highlight effect.

Overall, I've seen better Jakks Macho Man customs but I've also seen a lot worse, and it came out way better than I'd hoped for. I've done a few repaint jobs but never anything this extensive, so I'm pretty happy with it. I'm just waiting on a robe, sunglasses and headgear and it'll be 100% done.
There's a ton of other Jakks customs I plan to do, including several more Macho Man outfits, like his nWo one. But I knew this had to be the first one I did.

It took a lot more work than I expected due to the painting of the small details, but it came out way better than I thought it might.

I've been working on a few figures at once since I found a bunch of fodder figures for cheap.

Here's a repaint of a Jakks Classic Superstars Mr. Perfect. The default figure came in orange, but he never really wore that one very much so I hooked him up with his blue outfit:

This one took more work: Jakks "Deluxe Impact"-scale Kevin Nash in his Halloween Havoc 1996 attire:

For this, I took a Deluxe Impact Nash, swapped the head with a Classic Superstars Nash/Diesel figure, and then repainted the head and the outfit. All in all I'm pretty thrilled with it; it might be my favorite Nash figure in my collection, honestly.

I did my first LJN repaint project, as I decided to fix up my Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage figures. They turned out really well; these figures are super-easy to work on.

Here's what they looked like after I washed them, but otherwise in the condition I bought them in:

And here's what they looked like after being scrubbed with nail polish remover and repainted:

I really should upload the pics and stuff to Instagram more often so it'll stay up longer when I share them here. Ah well.

Anyways, I been picking away at a few more things, I just forget to post about it sometimes. I worked on a few LJN customs again recently; here's one of the more complicated ones, The Mighty Hercules!

First, here's what it looked like when I bought it for like ten bucks. Note to anyone who collects LJNs and is handy with a brush, if you're not gonna re-sell them anyway and just want something to look nice on a shelf, you can get most of the major LJN WWF guys for $10-15 if you don't care that they're rubbed off. So long as there's no big chunks taken out of them, I don't care what shape the paint is in since I'm just gonna redo it anyway.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

I definitely gave this one a soak before I took the pics, but I forget if I'd given it a nail polish remover touch-up or not. Either way, as you can see, no big chunks or dents, but the paint was a mess. I've seen way worse, but I hate seeing those big bare patches on his face and costume. Some hardcore collectors insist that what you get is what you get, that touching up the paint is blasphemy and "the point" is in trying to hunt these figures down in as close to pristine condition as possible, but let's be honest: That's not possible for most people with this line. 99% of these things that exist are so banged up that finding one in even passable shape is gonna cost way too much money. Even people who took care of them well, tons of the paint still rubbed off just from general storage and such. I don't know if LJN used a super cheap paint or forgot to use a sealer or what, but I have never in my LIFE seen toys with such bad paint deterioration as the LJN WWF figures. The closest toys I could compare them to are the WCW toys from OSFT, which were basically ripoffs of the WWF LJN figures, and 25 years later they're all holding up just fine. ANYWAY, I couldn't stand looking at something like this, no matter how "authentic" it is. Just looks like sh*t.

SO, I spent a weekend fixing up poor Hercules, and I'm very happy with how it came out:
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

After taking these pictures I ended up taking a toothpick and cleaning up some of the bleed spots and sloppy edges in spots, I just haven't bothered taking new pictures yet.

I didn't like his hair and beard just being flat black, so I used a base coat of black and then dry-brushed it with a very dark brown, which is actually much darker to the eye than it shows up in these pictures. I also wanted the coloring of the leather harness to look more textured so I redid the whole thing in light brown and then went over it in regular brown. It dried darker than the factory coat despite looking like a perfect match when it went on, but honestly I like it better this way. For the "gold" chest emblem and buckles, I absolutely hated the yellow coloring and wanted to change that, even though I generally try to stay as close as possible to the factory colors (at least on this first batch of WWF figures; when I get duplicates I'll experiment more). The emblem looked like a block of cheese on his chest, I really didn't like it. So I used a base coat of Gloss Yellow on those spots, went over it with regular Metallic Gold, went over it again with some Antique Gold, and then a light dry-brush of dark brown to make it look older and rougher. When the paint was dry I sealed everything I'd painted over with Mod Podge.

As I said, I cleaned it up a little more after I took these but that's basically how it looks now. I'm working on restoring a Brutus Beefcake and a Jimmy Hart as well, they're almost done. I haven't picked up too many new ones lately because I wanted to get done with the ones I already have before I let too much stuff pile up.

So I keep forgetting to put pictures on Instagram instead of Facebook, but I'm lazy. When I DO get to it I'll fix the dead links in the earlier posts... probably.

So anyways, I finally got around to finishing the touch-ups on my WWF LJN Jimmy Hart figure. I got him a few months ago but just never got around to finishing the fix-up job on him. As usual, I pretty much get these for about $10 on average because they're scuffed up, but they're usually pretty easy to fix up.

So here's the Before:

...And here's the After:

I more or less had to do a full repaint on the entire figure. As you can see the jacket and megaphone were pretty chewed up. The only part I couldn't really fix was a spot on his left sunglasses lens where there's a nick in the rubber I couldn't smooth out with the paint. But it's good enough. Overall it's a lot better than it WAS, at least.

I also fixed up an LJN Jimmy Snuka. At one point this was a tough figure to get, especially in decent shape. Thankfully I don't care if they're in great shape, so I got him cheap.

Before:

And After:

These are pretty easy and fun to fix up. Some people hate this kinda thing with this specific line because it's "cheating" or whatever, but finding these things in the wild in anything but piss-poor shape is an expensive goddamn hassle. It's not like I'm going to re-sell them and try to pass them off as "mint", I just want them to look nice in my display. Plus I need to keep my painting skills sharp and these things are easy to work on, so they're great practice.

One ugly thing about Facebook pictures is that they are not displayed on some browser and with some privacy/security settings. The only way I can see your photos is by looking through the HTML code of your posts or by quoting them
