The problem is, Horikoshi had way too many characters in MHA and didn't know how to handle many of them. Unlike Oda, who has created tons of characters for One Piece, yet, many get to shine. The fact the show is divided in arcs and many characters stick exclusively or mostly to a certain island/location which is where the arcs are set, helps.

I can agree with that. I havent watched the vid yet, but Momo probably had the 5th or 6th most advancement time for just them. Deku, Todoroki, Bakugo, Uraraka, Kirishima, then Momo.

Think that’s what makes Iruma-kun work as a series. While yes the first season essentially was just set up for Iruma at Babyls, after that it is able to focus on the ensemble cast that is his classmates where each arc essentially either has Iruma partnered up with someone, it’s a group thing, or some characters gets a large moment to shine. Now granted, iruma had a much smaller class cast (13) and it is more of a slice of life series with serious bookends.

I'd argue that even Iida had more focus since he got that arc early in the series with his brother and Stain.

In any case it's another big shonen anime in the books, next season of the anime will be the last and cover the rest of the manga.

As I said before, we're in a weird place now where almost all the big anime are already over, or in the process of ending. The only real popular current series is SpyxFamily, Frieren, and I guess if you count it Chainsaw Man.

But there is still a lot of anime that didn't cover all the manga yet, like Jo-Jo, Beserk, HunterxHunter, etc...so...they're technically all still going too.

Thankfully Frieren has restarted so their issues seem to be resolved (I havent looked into how they resolved things I just read the manga and new chapters have been coming). There are a lot more out there but I dont know of anything that is epic enough to step into those shoes either. Possibly Chained Soldier, but I havent really watched that anime only read the manga.

I think it helps a lot of manga are shorter now, and don't go on forever the way they used to. And most anime don't do endless filler anymore, they take a break between seasons.

It's really absurd how much filler older anime has, or ones like One Piece that can't stop airing a new ep week after week. It really did ruin a lot of older shows, and sometimes you can't skip eps because they insert filler stories into canon episodes and such to stretch them out. I think anime going forward all needs to be much shorter, and thankfully it's the direction they seem to be going at.

I am just wondering if they are going to do any filler or just have a short season. I have heard where it ends and I don't know if they have 24 episodes left

Now that we're near the end, I think the issue is he introduced way too many characters that he had time for. The main class was too big that a lot of the secondary/third tier characters barely got a chance to shine, and then he introduced all the other top students after that, in addition to having to give all the teachers a lot of focus and fights too.

It's a real shame. You can tell he really only had time for a small handful of characters in the spotlight and everyone else had to compete with each other for the little screentime left over. There were also a lot of unique character pairings/dynamics he could have focused on more, like friendship between each of the characters.

He just isn't as good as Oda at writing and keeping track of everyone, I guess.

Yeah too bad, a lot of these characters have great designs but they only have a few small scenes they're relevant in. Even the teachers for that matter.

Apparently in the last 4 volumes they are going to add 60 pages to the manga. IF we are lucky...10 of those will be in the final one with more ending materials.

Yeah, the more I reflect on it the more I feel its too bare. We got more on multiple background characters

and the Old woman who failed to save Shigaraki got a 3 or 4 page redemption arc

. We need a few more pages on the rest of the class among other people.

I am ok with not confirming ships...but come on.

I'm kinda expecting the anime to have an extended ending anyway. Most people believe next season will only be 13 eps, but if there really is more material, they could stretch it out to another 20ish ep season with more of an epilogue.
