Woah!

Now this... has certainly caught my attention. And I'm so glad to be seeing the 2003 Turtles finally get something when so many seem to heavily favor the 1987 cartoon more, as well as the newer stuff to a lesser extent (but still far more than the often neglected 2003 toon).

Hmm...it looks like I called it. They are releasing all 4 brothers in a single wave.

Please don't sell out!! This set will ride circles around the Mezcos by a good margin!

Now, if the articulation and QA is on point this set will be legendary.

I love expressive, toon look of these (going by the mugs), makes the rather impressive (for its time anyway) Playmates versions look like primitive statues in comparison.

Super7's strong point has always been toon accurate figures (e.g. The Simpsons, Ren & Stimpy, Toxic Crusaders, Filmation He-man) so vintage inspired (e.g. TMNT) and pseudo-vintage inspired (ThunderCats) was not their forte. Now, they will truly shine with this line!

In spite of the 2K3 series being my favorite of the cartoons, I'm still not interested in these (though I may grab Leo if he has a better headsculpt - the really goofy expression doesn't fit him that well), but I do think the fact that all four Turtles are in the same wave lends a lot of credence to the claim that Brian doesn't have the say he used to.

To the earlier point of Super7's supply coming more in line with demand, the one thing that bothers me about that - at least until we see if their QC dramatically improves - is that may kind of force our hands on pre-orders. Currently, you can kind of wait until people get the figures in hand to see how they turned out, and I hope we don't lose that ability because blindly pre-ordering Super7 product is a crapshoot right now.

This is a really strange thing to say, not just because of Super7's track record, but also because they're completely different things. People are inevitably going to prefer one over the other, but it's not like Mezco's (either the incredible original versions or the... questionable... toon versions) are meant to be the 2K3 Turtles, so there's no 1:1 comparison to be had.

No. I mean based on the recent hoopla over the fugly toon Mezcos that supposedly diehard turtle fans purchased (and they sold out within 24 hours) due to a severe case of FOMO, these 2K3 figures have an edge as far as marketing appeal. I'm not making a 1:1 comparison. Only a comparison of recent 4 packs that sold well.

There were folks on this board that suspected that 2K3 turtles by Super7 will not be successful. This was before the popular reissue of the 2K3 turtles by Playmates. These things are going to be insanely popular (even more so if the QA follows and articulation is good). That's all.

I guess the vintage toy line is now history after Rat King. It was a good run while it lasted. Now I can be mostly relieved of buying TMNT

I’m not up on Super7 but anecdotally I can say I’d never end up buying these if they were one or two per wave over 2-3 years. I’m not in the community like that and I’d just forget or lose interest.

As a four-pack, I’m ready and alert to purchase.

Fair enough. And to be honest, five years ago (and preferably from a different company), I'd have been all over these. But at this point, I have too much stuff just from the glut of companies putting out TMNT.

I will say, this is the first time in awhile I've seen mostly positive sentiment on anything TMNT Super7 has posted, so that's encouraging.

To the vintage recreations... who knows at this point? Flynn has said they're going to alternate, but if he's truly not making the decisions anymore (which feels like the case between all four Turtles in one wave and the new articulation), I could see it going either way. If these do exceptionally well, I can see the new decision-makers taking the wrong lesson from Flynn's mismanagement of the line to this point and just sticking with 2K3 for the immediate future. Which will be sort of a relief for me, but it will still be such a shame to have not gotten Traag and Usagi among others.

I think part of the positive sentiment has to do with the fact that they don't look like Super7 TMNT (well, we've only seen toy based TMNT from their end), and these figures, judging by their face portraits, look more reminiscent of Mondo's art style with the subtle ink lines (ironically, not like the Mondo soft vinyl TMNT, but like their X-Men and BTAS stuff).

Also, the extra articulation (around the neck or what looks like articulation there?) might give it more playability for the photography hobbyists.

Not too bad for a first showing! Hopefully the full reveals impress.

Does this company usually stick to individual figures or is it one of those that likes to go for expensive 4 packs?

Been hoping for some 2003 collectable figures a long time, but the last couple weeks have unfortunately been expensive (both dental and auto bills on top of other things), so keeping my fingers crossed I can get Leo as a single pack with cash on hand if I like how they look in person.

Super7 Ultimates are individual figures but still expensive. These will be around $55 each, minimum.

There was a bit of a price creep over the years. I still remember back when the line started, they were around $40. I don't know if it was during the pandemic that the price started to blow up, but even if that were an excuse, the issue is that the price never went back down afterward...

I mean... I'm likely still gonna get these, especially since I've been starved for what is "my Turtles", but still.

Not that I've been happy about toy prices in recent years in general. NECA and Hasbro have been pulling this crap, too. Even if they're not as expensive as Super7, they've shot way up compared to what they used to be.

I was never going to have any interest in these but I'm glad to see a new wave revealed at least. Hopefully that means we'll get back on track for having a new TMNT reveal every 3ish months, and the next will be back to vintage(ish). Having all of that completely up in the air is really frustrating.

At what point are they all going to shoot themselves in the foot when they reach a price point that most say no to? That adds up fast for what are just cool pieces of plastic.

Thank goodness I'm not of a completionist mindset where figures are concerned and I've yet to buy anything from these companies, though I'd probably get this 2003 Leo IF I ever come across him. (And the NECA Ronin Leo if he'll ever be allowed to show up in stores and spare me the shipping cost. )

Only collectable one I have so far is a ThreeZero Leo who was costly (but at least I'd redirected cash I was already going to spend on another collectable that had production canceled), though his gear, paint, etc is all hand done so it's a bit more justified.

To be fair, we've all been complaining about these price points for awhile, and yet a lot of us keep buying the stuff anyway.

Even in this case... I don't really want these and I haven't been impressed by much of Super7's output... but I'm already considering picking up Leo if he has a more stoic alternate portrait.

I dunno. Some of us are borderline addicts.
