Whoa! Sounds like one of our cast members was watching porn during recording. Because I was talking at that moment, I didn't even hear it!

That was a pretty good episode. I enjoyed it quite a bit, strange sounds aside. I don't think Mr. Wise gets enough recognition for the things he contributed to TMNT.

Especially since nearly every other Turtle universe really did use David Wise's ideas, just like he said.

Even minor stuff like the Turtle communicators showed up again in the 4kids series (as the Shell Cells), and again in the Nick cartoon (as the T-pod).

I'm calling shenanigans on giving Wise the credit for creating cell phones.

The man get credit for many things, but cell phones and iPods aren't on the list.

I agree...

Hello! Gene Roddenberry and the writers of Star Trek.

I just listened to this, and I agree with what everyone has commented. The portion about Channel 6 seems to arise just so that April had people to chit chat with, and that Irma was a Jack Mendlesohn creation who name was inspired by some old play. And I don't mind about having a grappling hook allowing Michelangelo to do more; he's already used it in the Nick series already.

I thought the portion about "don't animate in Ireland" in reference to Fred Wolf even knowing that those Dublin-animated episodes was hysterical. But the key here is that the relative decline in quality from the pilot was a combination of Fred Wolf and production turnaround; its not as bad as He-Man (less than one week per episode!), but at least the multiple outsourced studios allow for pretty good animation in most of the series. It's a shame Mr. Wise hates CGI, otherwise he would be working on the Nick series.

The questions that were asked were pretty nonsensical, especially that shipping question about people pairing the Turtles with their own female characters...ugh.

Why didn't anyone ask David Wise why more of the Playmates mutant characters weren't featured? Or what led to the creation of Lord Dregg and why Shredder/Krang were replaced? Or why there were so many mad scientists in the show?

Jesus, you guys missed the boat on some interesting queries.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I did my best to ask a few good question give the 1980s TMNT cartoon is the thing I'm least experienced with in terms of TMNT Cartoons/Comics/Movies (I'm pretty sure I watched some of it since my sister did, but I was so young by the time she stopped, most of that memory is a blur; the first movie is the first thing I clearly remember of TMNT).

Still, it was a fun experience. Learning the decisions behind what is and isn't adapted from a source material has always been a subject I liked talking about, and I did want to ask a few questions about things I knew of the material.

You don't think people should have asked him things about the OT people always wanted? Like my questions above or what the censors told them to tone down after Season 1?

Most of the questions asked was either common stuff we already knew, or questions that were kind of a waste.

And Peter Laird would have had serious issues with the Baxter Stockman episode of the Nick series...

Yes, I'd have rather heard an answer to the Red Sky changes as opposed to the whole fanfic/shipping question (sorry Jeff), but to say things like, "Jesus, you guys missed the boat on some interesting queries." is a bit much....

You really need to work on how you present your opinions. You opinions aren't often that off base, but the way you present them is what brings the heat.

Maybe not creating actual cellphones and such, but without the OT there's wouldn't be Shell Cells and tPods. The Turtles never had need for 'superhero communicator devices' in the comics or even the live-action movies.

I dunna, cell phones are HUGE now (and were widely used during the 4Kids run). Even if the Turtles didn't use TurtleComs in the FW series, I'm sure by 2003 they would be using Shell Cells.

Or you know... regular cellphones... After the first few eps to kinda... show them off and such... I don't seem to remember them using them all too often in the show. I kinda don't remember them being used in Back to the Sewers. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here?

They mostly used headsets with them, making them more obscured.

Just completed an hour and a half podcast with our next guest. Had a really good time with things and he was a fantastic and gracious guest. Episode 6 will be up soon and our guest on it is...

Ciro Nieli, executive producer of the current Nickelodeon TMNT show.

Very interesting. I wonder if he revealed any spoilers about future episodes.

I really hope someone asked him if he read the Archie comics. We really need Armaggon in the Nicktoon.

I can't believe Armaggon has never been used in any TMNT cartoon ever. This needs to change.
