$30 is a chunk for a Playmates figure, buuuut it looks pretty great, and I like that it should fit in (ish) with all my vintage figures. I pre-ordered it. I can always cancel later but at the moment I'm pretty excited about it!

Oh, and I've never read the Last Ronin, haha.

I'm glad that we are already seeing this book explode into the statues and figure market. I'm sure they've been getting all types of offers after this blew up last year. I'm sure we'll see more.

I'll also add that it's probably the best looking Playmates figure I've seen in a while.

Yeah, another reason to buy it... Playmates, more of this, please! Time and effort obviously went into this and it looks fantastic. If they start putting out more stuff like this I'm going to have some decisions to make! It's a really cool look that tugs at the nostalgia strings but also doesn't compete with NECA or Super7.

Not sure if it is reusing parts, but it has a great wash and some nice artwork/packaging. Preordered.

We should encourage Playmates when they do it right.

Pretty sure NECA will show their version of the Last Ronin after these recent Diamond Select and Playmates reveals.

Ha! Shots fired! I think I'll probably still stick to the Playmates version for pure nostalgia purposes, but we'll see. I have no attachment to the character after all.

That actually looks not bad. Im wondering if its using a new mould for a MOTU origins style line - it looks vintage with more articulation?

Not into the comics. But playmates looks like a custom, sloppy dark wash and is that a recycled classic head?

Funny I thought the same thing, but I kind of like it. If the final product looks as good as the pics I think it would be safe to say Playmates is stepping it up. I think I may get both Playmates and NECA. I really want Ronin to go with my figures from NECA, and maybe Super7. But one that scales with my 2012 Basic turtles would be cool too.

Definitely the best Playmates figure that's come out in eons (although obviously, that's not saying much), but with NECA doing one around the same time, they're also probably gonna be around the same price... not really sound decision.

I wonder why we've got this now but so far no IDW figs?? You'd think even the early stuff would be worth someone getting out the door.

Lol, TLR is taking in the licensing deals already. We're probably going to see an animated adaption in the next few years.

I'm highly amused by Neca showing up Playmates by revealing their figure on the same day.

That Playmates figure is cooler than it has any right to be. It's charming in the same way that I like modern 5-points retro lines. Of course, the NECA figure looks better in every way, but it doesn't have the charm of the Playmates one.

I pre-ordered it on BBTS.

While I am happy to see playmates to be doing more tmnt products and for them to also be more of the collectable type as well, however the fig looks to cartoony for my liking. I am a bit disappointing that they did not give him the tonfa.

why did they have to do the wash over his teeth? looks like he's been chewing on a charcoal briquette.

The comparison is made in reference to other Playmates figures. And, most folks praised it before seeing the NECA reveal on Twitter.

Since Playmates are Playmates, what are the odds that the weapons become one singular colour?

In all seriousness, this is probably the best thing Playmates have done in years and looks much better that I expected it to. I wonder what the price difference will be between the NECA and the Playmates figure.
