MacGyver reboot

CBS is planing a sorta reboot of MacGyver. It's a Young MacGyver series about how he learned to figure out the wonders of ductape.

Maybe it can feature RDA each week reminiscing about his younger years like the Young Indiana Jones chronicles did with old Indy...??

Interesting, hopefully they can get Richard Dean Anderson to make a cameo.

My mom would love that. She had a huge crush on him back when it was originally on. I just liked all the neat science "tricks" he used!

My mother used to watch MacGuyver all the time. I did sometimes too. Aside from the theme song though, which is still awesome, I don't remember much about the show. When I saw Stargate Atlantis (wasn't it?), which starred RDA, I used to joke about how he made the Stargate from a hula hoop, a rubberband, and a c-battery. lol

Doing this Young Indiana Jones style might not be so bad. At least it doesn't sound like it's going to be a rehash of the original.

No, it was actually the original Stargate series as Colonel Jack O'Neill. He was in the Continuum one a few times too, but not as a starring role.

Thanks. I couldn't remember right off. It's been forever since I've watched either. Didn't really stick with me I guess.

Well, he was also in four eps of Atlantis and also in SG: Universe, and SG: Unleashed, but all in minor capacity. In SG1, he actually got promoted twice. I used to watch SG1 a long time ago, and a little of Atlantis, but haven't seen either in years. I mostly remember him being the "main" character in SG1, along with the science/language guy and the blonde chick. And the "alien" guy. He was one of my favorites on the show, actually.

Young Indiana and SGU were also series based off of movies. MacGuyver was always a popular TV show. I'm looking forward to seeing a cool new take on it. The character has a lot of really favorable core values that any audience can enjoy.

Awesome! I used to have the worst crush on the main actor...

I still use "MacGuyver" as a slang verb for throwing random stuff together to make something work.

It's more commonly used than you might think heh... not quite on the same levels as other tradenames to verbs (Xerox, Hoover, Google, Photoshop etc) but it's out there, especially for the 80s generation.

They're actually going thru with this thing!! Lucas Till (Havoc in the X-Men films) has been cast as young Angus MacGyver. So making random stuff out of ducktape is a mutant power?

MacGyver is an actual show? I thought forever it was only a fictional show on the Simpsons like Itchy and Scratchy. I literally would never be able to take this show seriously because of the Simpsons and imagine every watcher like patty and selma

How does that Animaniacs song go? Reboot it, retool it, recycle it, re-release it?

The original show never took itself seriously either. It was incredibly OTT. Everything The Simpsons ever said about it was pretty much spot on.

But let's not leave the infamous Stargate outttake out of all the fun:
