That's true. But why does it have to be a trilogy? Why not make it a series of 5 movies or 2 or whatever, don't just make a trilogy because "Movies come in trilogies". When did that concept even became a thing? The original star wars?

Lord of the Rings, I think. I can't think of another epic trilogy that isn't recent...

See I don't feel that way but I don't rewatch them all the time. I saw both multiple times at the cinema but then only rewatch them maybe once a year at home. The only thing in TFA that I felt became more flawed with each viewing was how over powered Rey was (she could do everything!) but it looks like TLJ is making that a plot point. If they handle it well I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that it will work better once we the full trilogy, at least until the film's prove otherwise (and yes I know JJ didn't plan for that, he just made her over powered, but TLJ can still make it work in universe). R1 I still love just as much as I did the first time I saw it.

But that doesn't seem to be what they're doing here. This new trilogy is unconnected to the main series (I-IX). I'm sure they'll work hard to make it feel like Star Wars but it will be completely new characters and settings and most likely a completely different era as well. If you don't want nostalgia and fan service this new trilogy should excite you more than the ST.

i freaking LOVE Star Wars! always have since i was really young, and now i just feel like i'm getting burnt out with it.

loved FA and R1 when i saw they in the theatre several times.
even pre-ordered the blu ray as soon as possible.
but now i have no desire to ever watch them again.

Yeah, it's strange to me. Even with the old EU, even when I got so overstuffed with a million novels, comics, and a ton of video games with increasingly conflicting and convoluted stories to such a point that I had to throw my hands up and go, "ENOUGH!!!" and back away from it all... I never got burned out of Star Wars itself. Somehow now, however, over the course of just two movies (TFA + R1) I find myself completely disenfranchised with the whole franchise.

It's sink or swim with me on Last Jedi. This is it. Let's see the new vision, or f*** this retread nonsense.

I guess it's because comics or novels or videogame stories are easily ignorable. Movies just feel like a bigger deal, especially due to all the promotion they get.

Most people will never pick up a Star Wars comic or novel in their life, but they'll watch the movies.

If you're burnt out, go and do something else.

James Bond have like 26 films through the ages (still going strong) and people are still not tired of him. Star Wars are here to stay. Deal.

But James Bond movies are not released every year this days.
And they don't have spin-offs to fill gaps between mainline releases.

That aside JB is quite a different beast all together from Star Wars and JB series can completely change tone, setting and characters from one movie to the other.

To put it simply JB movies can be very different from each other, something that can not be said about SW, which should adhere to the same setting and (optionally this days) mood.

Rian Johnson still set to be one of the architects of SW's future:

"I’m sitting down now with Dan Weiss and David Benioff…and Rian Johnson. We’re all sitting down to talk about, where do we go next? We’ve all had conversations about what the possibilities might be, but now we’re locking it down."

Just rip the band-aid off and give the fan-base what it wants. Anthropomorphic dog and cat people with six-packs and come-hither expressions, exchanging self-affirming bromides, bland jokes, and pointed jabs at the out group.

It's weird to type this but... she's really too old to play anyone of note in The Batman. Maybe like an older femme fatale for Pattinson, or if they wanted to go older with Poison Ivy or something.

If Kraven is the next featured Spider-Man villain in film, she could play Caylpso.
