I posted in this thread about 6 years ago(damn, been here for so long!) so my tastes have changed over the years. And I honestly find it hard to give a top 10 that's set in stone. It depends on my mood among other things, but I'll give it a shot. Also, just because I like a band/artist, doesn't mean I like everything they've released in their careers. In fact, some are bound to have more stuff I don't enjoy than stuff I actually enjoy(Metallica per example. Most of their stuff is garbage). Currently, I'd say my top 10 consists of:
1 - Judas Priest 2 - Herbie Hancock 3 - Iron Maiden 4 - John Coltrane 5 - Alice in Chains 6 - Bolt Thrower 7 - Mitch Murder 8 - Meisa Kuroki 9 - Namie Amuro 10 - Fréderic Chopin Honorable mentions: Miami Nights 1984, Miles Davis, Black Sabbath, Death, Tool A few positions would probably change if I remade my top 10 next week, with a couple of the honorable mentions moving into my top 10. |

So this is from Two years ago. Replace Disturbed with SMashing Pumpkins and we're golden. Crazy how ten years ago they were like my faves and now I'm not that big of a fan. Which is weird cuz I'm finally seeing them live.

Never noticed this thread before. Nice.
Seems like a lot of TMNT fans have similar musical tastes, which is cool! You can also definitely tell the Americans from the rest of the World too! So in no particular order, here are 10 of my favourite bands/artists: The Strokes (these would be my #1) Foals The Maccabees Notorious BIG Led Zeppelin Crystal Castles MGMT Major Lazer/Diplo (…yeah I'm fitting 2 acts in 1 space ) David Bowie Puff Daddy (before he changed his name numerous times) Man that was way tougher than I thought! Got it down to a shortlist of around 20…filled the first 7-8 spaces pretty easy, then I had to pick 2 from 12…yeah, tough! The hardest choice was between Bowie or Duran Duran…I prefer Bowies overall catalogue, but Duran Duran have one of my all-time favourite singles. So I imagined if I had to live on a desert island with the 10 artists I’ve listed, their full catalogues…would have to choose Bowie. Just. Other honourable mentions must go to: Daft Punk The Horrors Bombay Bicycle Club Beastie Boys Wu Tang Clan Late of the Pier

There's a lot of artists and bands I enjoy but here's 10 favourites
1. Dead Or Alive, (most know the late Pete Burns for his spin me like a record song, but he has lots of other great tracks aswell, I love his style) 2. The Pillows (Japanese soft rock band that I found from the FLCL anime, their music has a lot of classic rock influence) 3. Lush (shoegaze band from the 90s) 4. Pulp 5. Depeche Mode 6. Queen 7. David Bowie 8. MACROSS 82 99 9. George Michael 10. Mitski Ginger Root and Gorillaz are also quite good |

Sorry to diverge from list mode for a moment...
I will preface by saying I've always been very casual when it comes to musicians and bands and never paid any in that industry much mind other than liking random songs, but even then goodness knows if I could tell you who a song was actually by. I don't think I've even made a post in the music section until now. So that said, I don't really have a top 10 to offer, but I don't see them mentioned, so I've got to toss them up on here because I adore these people of Steam Powered Giraffe, esp David Michael Bennett aka The Spine (silver 'robot' guy if you aren't familiar). Awesome people, quirky awesome music and act, they deserve all the love and attention in the world. Especially inspired by and impressed with the twins, David (Spine) and Isabella aka Bunny (Rabbit) and what they've managed to do building this band despite their background and not letting deep personal scars hold them back, unlike so many people with similar scars have problems doing, and at least a few of their songs touch on dealing with/handling personal troubles. (Quite relatable to some of us, they also drew a particularly awful hand when the universe was handing out mothers. David has occasionally been rather open about it and appreciate him all the more for it.) Edit: Bryan Barbarin aka Zero is their third member, can't forget to mention him too, he's likewise a great talent. Okay, intermission over, feel free to go back to the list format.
