Hey Arnold! Returning

This was posted several hours ago by Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett

Is the now legendary Jungle movie on the way?

I loved the show as a kid.I guess it is because I was Arnold's age when it debuted and the show ages well. We got exactly 100 installments, but it felt incomplete like Forever War being dangled in front of us to conclude it only not to happen. I am glad Craig Barlett did not let it go for god because of a disagreement before he left for Cartoon Network. Do you have an article link? Give us the Jungle movie!!!

Update: Nevermind, the image is from an existing episode, fans just overexcited at something Craig posted (including me). Aside from the fact he's in talks with Nick about it, there's not much to report on.

Atleast it will happen! I found it in a yahoo! news serach. Only one source at the moment. It seems Nick is looking back and making new episodes of four of its 90s cartoons.

I recall them planning that as far back as 2011, back when the 90s block was announced.

Anyway, you're definatly right, Justin Shenkarow confirmed he was in talks for a role in the new movie.

Link, please?

I'll be very happy if this gets off the ground. Now all we need is that Samurai Jack movie.

I liked Hey Arnold as a kid, but I don't remember much about it except the characters. Helga was the most interesting character. I watched the movie nearly a decade ago, but thought it was disappointing. It wasn't as good as the cartoon, in my opinion.

Nickelodeon is looking to revisit some of its classic shows, from before the time of “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Dora the Explorer.”

“We are looking at our library to bring back ideas,” Russell Hicks, the cable channel’s president of content and development, tells Variety, “shows that were loved, in a fresh new way.”

He’s talking about the era of “Rugrats,” “Doug,” “You Can’t Do That on Television” and “Hey Arnold!” According to the website, the plan would see some classics retooled, not necessarily as series but possibly as specials or TV movies.

Hicks wouldn’t reveal which shows are under consideration, but noted that a lot of viewers who grew up watching Nickelodeon now have children of their own. “We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones they’ve told us multiple times they want to have brought back,”he said.

So the Jungle movie tease could be about a tv special

I've never understood the internet's love for this show, and I used to watch it every day. I couldn't stand Helga or her character archetype, but apparently I was supposed to find her funny or something, so I completely missed something.

I would definitely love the show if she wasn't in it, honestly.

It's not just her, there are entire episodes that are unfunny and "dramatic". Pigeon Man, the one where that dude learns to read, the Asian guy and his daughter or whatever. So I don't get it, either.

I kinda agree. I watched a few episodes of Hey Arnold nearly a year ago, but I hated the season 3 episode Full Moon. In that episode, Arnold got punished a lot for something that he didn't even do and his so-called friends turned on him. That episode put me off watching the show ever again.

Earlier today the list of voice-actors was updated. Toran and Smith will not be voicing Arnold and Gerald, but they will be voicing new characters.

Quote:
Lane Toran, who originally played Arnold in the series, and Jamil Smith, who was the voice of Gerald, also will return, but in different roles. Mason Vale Cotton and Benjamin “L’il P-Nut” Flores, Jr. will assume the roles of Arnold and Gerald, respectively. Other new actors taking on roles from the series are Gavin Lewis as Eugene; Jet Jurgensmeyer as Stinky; Aiden Lewandowski as Sid; Laya Hayes as Nadine; Nicolas Cantu as Curly; Wally Wingert as Oskar; and Stephen Stanton as Pigeon Man. Alfred Molina will lend his voice to the villain Lasombra, who is a notorious river pirate scheming from a secret compound in the jungles of San Lorenzo.

There will be a panel celebrating 25 years of Nickelodeon animation and production art for the film will be shown. Fans will also be given the opportunity take photos at a replica of Arnold's stoop.

I'm betting Toran and Smith will voice bully characters, as is the fate of all Hey Arnold actors who have aged out.

The problem with this theory is all of th4m have " aged out" now. That being said I wonder how the characters will sound.

Some of them were lucky not to age out as puberty didn't effect their voices too much, Helga's VA being a lucky example.

However, Craig being the super cool dude he was cast the first two Arnold VAs as bully characters to Arnold, the first one being a recurring character.

Helga os a bad example. It's easier to keep girls around compared to boys because our voices don't change too drastically compared to boys. I could see her voice actress reprising her role easily.
